We need more research, inclusivity, balance and clarity. We need to wield the powerful the tools of science with transparency, using better statistics, more consultation and more cooperation. Under-represented voices must join the discussion. All expertise has value.

But owing to decades of inequity, there are huge gaps in our knowledge of sex and gender -especially in medicine. This can leave cis women as well as trans, genderqueer, intersex folks etc. in the dark about their healthcare needs.

Around the world, COVID-19 deaths probably considerably higher than official counts. Well known that many COVID-19 cases go undiagnosed so this is observation not necessarily unexpected. Also means endemic phase of COVID-19 closer than we might realize. nature.com/articles/d4158…

For example, if you had minimal vaccine side effects you'd maybe have been asymptomatic. And if the side effects were really strong you would've likely been hospitalized? Or are there too many variables at play to even begin to make any sort of assessment? Thanks! #LoveYourWork

@NaturePodcast Love your podcast! Have a random question. Not sure if you've discussed this in Coronapod before, but are the side effects you get from the COVID-19 vaccine at all correlated with the symptoms you would've displayed had you contracted the virus itself?
