Maple Leafs reporter @Berger_BYTES says a “good source” texted him:
“Your favorite captain will be traded, this summer, to one of three western teams: Anaheim, Los Angeles or Utah. Mark it down. [Auston Matthews] won’t be back with the Leafs.”

@MorePerfectUS Let’s say they do sell, what’s to say the new owners won’t think along the same lines? It’s the conglomerate environment where it’s very hard for mom and pop passion project owners to keep up.

I've watched this league for over 30 years and I don't think I've ever seen a player in a leadership role simultaneously say all the right things and then do the exact opposite of his words on the ice. #NYR

@SportsNetLA He keeps talking about mechanics in each interview. Maybe we need an update from him or Prior on whether the mechanics have improved throughout spring training AND TO WHAT DEGREE?

“Results weren’t good today… my mechanics were a little off, but I’ll keep improving.” ⚾

@DarrenMcCarty4 for Marty McSorley. Would that trade have happened?

@dodger_daily What about Kim and the South Korean market?

The Roki Sasaki situation is complicated, and it's not as simple as making it black and white. Sasaki, unquestionably, has NOT performed well enough as a starter to deserve a spot in the opening day rotation. But, he was KEY in the World Series title last year, AND, he took WAY less money to join the Dodgers.
He did that because he believed in the Dodgers' developmental system, and he felt as if he could grow the most under the Dodgers instruction. He also wanted to play with Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
Beyond that, I'm sure, as part of the sales pitch, the Dodgers assured him a spot in the rotation, because they were the only organization that could "logistically" implement a 6-man rotation. They can do that because Ohtani is a 2-way player, so, in essence, they can have 14 pitchers.
So, to get Sasaki to sign, especially considering he was signing early, and thus, had to sign a Minor League contract, their HAD to be promises made. One could assume the Dodgers assured him a spot in the rotation, and, more importantly, a role as a starter. And, you have to understand, one of the secret sauces for the Dodgers with Free Agents is that they have developed a remarkable reputation for delivering on the promises they make.
That alone is a MAJOR factor as to why the Dodgers are THE destination for Free Agents. And the ability to acquire the CORRECT Free Agents can NOT be understated as to the impact it's made in creating this dynasty.
So, to move Sasaki either to the pen or to AAA, they would have to back out on a promise made, and one that was instrumental in his signing with the Dodgers instead of the Padres or any other organization. It's truly a "rock and a hard place" because you have everyone else on the "merit system" and pitchers being sent to OKC that deserve better, meanwhile, Sasaki is getting preferential treatment.
Then, on top of all that, one of the LARGEST parts of this dynasty construction has been capturing the Asian market, specifically the Japanese market. The Dodgers have done such great work capturing that audience, and because of it, they are swimming in both money AND championships. It's been a 100% Win/Win, and surely NO ONE would want to upset that Apple Cart. Especially over a 6th starter, who has potential, as he showed in the playoffs last year?
And on a team that could win 100+ games and win the Division by double digits? Even if he doesn't pitch well! Even if he pitches well in just 1/2 his outings, the Dodgers might win 110ish games if everything else plays out the way it should.
That's the "rock and a hard place" that I see, and I can see both sides of it. For me, it just kind of "Is What It Is, and I trust the Front Office to massage this situation in a way that works for everyone in the long run. #dodgers

@Peter_Baugh @vzmercogliano How many mea culpas can you issue in one season without changing your habits?

@DanClarkSports @KillInfluencers @BillShaikin NY (both stadiums) are comparable. Better off going to Camelback in February. You know everyone will be healthy and with the team at that stage.

A family of four attending a game at Dodger Stadium costs $413 and consists of:
• cheapest tickets available
• parking
• one hot dog each
• one beer per adult
• one soda per child
It is, by far, the most expensive ballpark experience in MLB.

@SlamDiegoZoo Better to just make the pilgrimage to Camelback Ranch in February.
