How to survive in a world of talented people. It may be counter-intuitive for me to say the world is filled with talented people simply because all we see almost every time is an utmost display showing "lack-of-talent". #thread

How shameless. I pre-ordered Starlink back in 2019, pending regulatory approval. Most countries in Africa have received approval, but the country whose parliament building was funded and built by China says it can’t approve Starlink due to data privacy concerns.

Since I spend my night again sifting through security advisories, folks, security researches, slop clankers, PLEASE - read docs.openclaw.ai/gateway/securi… and github.com/openclaw/openc… The security model of OpenClaw is that it's your PERSONAL assistant (one user - 1...many agents). IT IS NOT A BUS. If you want to have multiple users that are adversarial to each other, use on VPS per gateway and user. (or Mac Minis, if you like spending money) I closed like 20 reports today that try to force it into something it's was never designed for and that would just add loads of needless complexity and would introduce unnecessary bugs that won't benefit the wast majority of users.

Someone asked about tricks for meeting eminent people. I said the best plan is just to do really good work. Then you'll tend to meet them organically. In the worst case you'll see one whenever you look in the mirror.

@_ellaru Yeah adding water to salty pot of soup doesn’t make it any less salty – genius. Adding water doesn’t increase the volume and reduce concentration. It doesn’t decrease the chance to take in more substance as volume grows. Finally, na you no get sense.

There's a reason why all the "respectable" oyibo media platforms are leading with "Senegal Heavily Criticised" instead of the actual story (Senegal wins AFCON). If you understand that football is inherently political, you also understand to some interests, any widely viewed demonstration of successful African resistance is a big problem. So they must immediately shift the narrative away from the fact that Senegal won the AFCON and toward how it is going to be punished for it. They will spend the next few days pumping out 50,000 articles about how Senegal's coach is going to be banned, and how there will be CAF/FIFA sanctions etc etc. There's a reason why they must implant these messages in your mind. Meanwhile when Luis Suarez carried out the most despicable act of cheating ever recorded at a World Cup in 2010, the headlines the next day were not about Uruguay getting punished or Suarez receiving a ban. I know because I read all the headlines back then. If you know, you know.

File over app File over app is a philosophy: if you want to create digital artifacts that last, they must be files you can control, in formats that are easy to retrieve and read. Use tools that give you this freedom. File over app is an appeal to tool makers: accept that all software is ephemeral, and give people ownership over their data. In the fullness of time, the files you create are more important than the tools you use to create them. Apps are ephemeral, but your files have a chance to last. The pyramids of Egypt contain hieroglyphs that were chiseled in stone thousands of years ago. The ideas hieroglyphs convey are more important than the type of chisel that was used to carve them. The world is filled with ideas from generations past, transmitted through many mediums, from clay tablets to manuscripts, paintings, sculptures, and tapestries. These artifacts are objects that you can touch, hold, own, store, preserve, and look at. To read something written on paper all you need is eyeballs. Today, we are creating innumerable digital artifacts, but most of these artifacts are out of our control. They are stored on servers, in databases, gated behind an internet connection, and login to a cloud service. Even the files on your hard drive use proprietary formats that make them incompatible with older systems. Paraphrasing something I wrote recently: > If you want your writing to still be readable on a computer from the 2060s or 2160s, it’s important that your notes can be read on a computer from the 1960s. You should want the files you create to be durable, not only for posterity, but also for your future self. You never know when you might want to go back to something you created years or decades ago. Don’t lock your data into a format you can’t retrieve. These days I write using an app I help make called Obsidian (@obsdmd), but it’s a delusion to think it will last forever. The app will eventually become obsolete. It’s the plain text files I create that are designed to last. Who knows if anyone will want to read them besides me, but future me is enough of an audience to make it worthwhile.

I clearly understand people's frustration with PayPal. Back in 2020, I had gigs that paid me handsomely. I worked with HNIs from the UAE, US etc which made my proceeds total to $15k Trust me the limits on that account was $250k, so a $15k transaction was in order. PS: not like I withdrew all at once, I only withdrew $4500. Then came the bomb. I initiated the withdrawal to my account as i always do, and went to bed.. I woke up the next morning to see an email from Paypal saying my account has been restricted for suspicious activities, my money was on hold for 180 days and that was it. As if not enough, I wrote emails and made calls to the support team. Then came the worst of it all. I reached out to the People I worked with and they communicated to PayPal letting them know my work was legit. My account was then permanently closed and my money was going to be sent to me after 180 days. I trusted PayPal and waited for 180 days, only to get a mail that my money was used to solve the harm against PayPal.. Guess how much balance was left for me? $45. I broke down, not just because PayPal messed me up. But that money was going to solve three major issues, relocating to a new apartment, paying for my mum's medical bills, and a $3000 certification I was chasing then. So if there's anyone who understands PayPal loss, it's me If PayPal is a hook for you, you can try any of the following alternatives. 1. @dodopayments 2. Adyen 3. Square 4. Paddle 5. Authorize .net 6. WePay Stripe remains my best. One reason I didn't add Braintree is that it is owned by PayPal There you have it

The African Union is fortunate to have its headquarters in Ethiopia, a country tightly enclosed by authoritarian rule, where internet restrictions have persisted for more than a decade. Had the AU been based elsewhere, its complacency and open endorsement of electoral fraud and dictatorships would have provoked a public backlash it could never have withstood. This, however, is the inevitable outcome of a regional body that lacks democratic foundations. Unlike the European Parliament, the AU’s parliamentary members are not elected by citizens; they are appointed from national assemblies largely controlled by ruling parties. With only a handful of exceptions, most African parliaments consist of nominated, not truly elected, representatives. As a result, African citizens have no genuine mechanism to hold these regional institutions accountable. Detached from the people, they operate without empathy, legitimacy, or moral responsibility toward those they claim to represent.

Chairperson of the African Union Commission congratulates H.E. President Paul Biya on re-election and calls for national dialogue in the Republic of #Cameroon. The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, notes the official proclamation by the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Cameroon on the final results of the presidential election of 12 October 2025. To this effect, the Chairperson extends congratulations to His Excellency Paul BIYA on his victory, as the re-elected President of the Republic of Cameroon. However, the Chairperson is gravely concerned about the reported violence, repression and arrests of protesters and political actors in connection with the election results. The AUC Chairperson of calls on all institutional and political actors to exercise restraint and work towards the preservation of social cohesion, peace and stability in Cameroon. He urges the Cameroonian authorities to accord topmost priority to inclusive national dialogue and consultation with all political stakeholders in order to reach consensus in the spirit of national unity, peace and collective security. The AUC Chairperson reaffirms the African Union's commitment to continue to support the people of Cameroon in the quest to consolidate democracy, social justice, and the rule of law. In 1800, William Herschel carried out an experiment to find out whether different colours in the light spectrum have different temperatures. During the experiment, he realised that just after the red end of the spectrum where there was no light, the temperature spiked heavily. What he did next is the fundamental difference between the modern African mind and the scientific mind. He hypothesized that even though there was no light there, the fact that the temperature moved up from blue end of the spectrum to the red end, then even higher after the red end, likely meant that the light spectrum continued, but was not visible to the human eye. He was correct, and that invisible light he discovered through scientific observation is what we now call Infrared light. It's what is used in remote controls, fibre optic cables etc. Basically, your life might be very different today if William Herschel had acted like a modern African, because here's the thought process a modern African would have employed in that situation. Let's replace the light experiment with an African election, and let's say the objective of the election is to deliver a competent, non-corrupt, demographically representative leader, as against the corrupt, daft, nonagenarian who occupies the office and consequently keeps the country parlous. After going through 4 or 5 election cycles, the modern African observes that the people never vote for the old bastard and they always coronate a new popular hero before every election. Yet everytime without fail, the old bastard declares himself winner and nothing happens. Any staunch local opposition is hunted down violently, and he faces zero foreign pressure. The foreign NGOs and embassies ocassionally give the opposition people a few visas and asylums, plus a few empty statements "expressing concern for electoral hitches," but nothing that actually takes a strong position against the old bastard, who continues doing business with all of them. If the modern Africans were Herschel, they would hypothesize that perhaps the foreign embassies and NGOs are in fact, working hand-in-hand with the old bastard, and the system is not in fact an electoral democracy, but a foreign-directed dictatorship that holds sham elections so that the foreign backers can pretend to "support democracy" while ruthlessly extracting from the country in partnership with the old bastard, who is actually their puppet. But the modern African instead of looking past the red band and theorising from its temperature effect that there must be non-visible band of light there (a layer of the supposed "democractic" system that is not open to the public and is only accessible to those who secretly control the entire thing), rather concludes that there is no explanation for why the temperature gets hotter after the red band (there is no wider reason for why the old bastard ALWAYS wins despite this breaking every statistical probability model). So instead of making a scientific deduction and creating a hypothesis which forms the basis for informed examination of his situation, the modern African says "We will do better next time." Of course the "next time" is always exactly the same as the last time. Paul Biya wins again. Museveni wins again. Sassou Nguesso wins again. Tinubu wins again. Ruto wins again. And after a few decades of this protracted failure to change anything, the modern African then retreats into his petulant cynicism saying stuff like "Africa is cursed." "Nigeria can never get better." Meanwhile the simple (and fucking obvious) solution would have been to make a scientific observation of the situation first, instead of behaving like a battery-powered toy soldier without a brain of this own, constantly repeating failed actions every 4 years and refusing to change anything because to challenge his own assumptions and beliefs about how the world works would be to challenge his ego. And the modern African would fully DIE before letting anything challenge his fucking ego.

@africatechie @_Erics_90 @Atekiseta Is there any centralized platform where people can see some of these numbers? We are seeing lots of results from various centers with evidence, is there a way we can come up with something for unofficial public collation for record purposes?

@_Erics_90 @Atekiseta The main political parties have the numbers. They have gathered results from municipal, then divisional then regional levels and have compiled them. Even if they don’t have from all polling stations, they can gauge from the missing ones and make an assessment.

Cameroonians have this bad habit of thinking you can't love someone and still criticize them. Eto'o has been a massive failure. A symbol of the total breakdown of the flickering hope ppl still had in Cameroon. He has been an avid supporter of this corrupt regime, and when handed the opportunity of heading FECAFOOT, he has proven to be no better than the corrupt rascals before him. He might even be worse. Can't believe we all had dreams of him becoming the president of this country one day. God forbid that ever happens.
