Just reposting this in light of Tisch saying that subway crime is down for the quarter. I haven’t seen March felony data yet. Felony subway crime was significantly up through February.

Subway violence, a good barometer of random violence in NYC, is significantly up across the board in the first two months of the Mamdani era. (And we now have three murders, not one.) Farebeating arrests and arrests overall are down. If a move (again, as in pre-Adams) toward civil and not criminal enforcement of the laws and rules of the subway is going to work, well, it's not working yet!

I like what Mamdani is saying about “end the drain” soooo u are supposed to get back more from the government than you pay in taxes ? I’m just confused on the arguments he’s making here - he’s saying NYC shouldn’t pay more money than it gets back from NY state … but rich New Yorkers should pay more than they get back from NYC gov? The reason NYC pays more to the state than it gets back is because it’s the richest city in American history… its budget is larger than every state except for 4 lol that’s why it pays more. It’s the exact same reason u want to tax the rich. I’m genuinely confused how you can make these contradictory statements in the same video

Our budget response clearly says: ❌ NO increasing property taxes in the middle of an affordability crisis ❌ NO raiding the rainy day fund, a tool for true emergencies Under the @SpeakerMenin's leadership, we focused on: ✅ Smart spending and strategic savings, line by line ✅ Maintaining city services, no reductions ✅ Revenue raisers, that don't penalize hard working New Yorkers. The Mayor's proposed City budget is a whopping $127 billion. The City's not broke, we're just badly managed. And we can balance this budget responsibly without putting our long-term fiscal health at risk.
