@nomadgeist Both share 90% of the vocabulary, the issue is difference in pronunciation. Some better travelled Brazilians and Spanish/LatAm will understand Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and even French. They’re all very similar.

The myth of “Portuguese is basically a Spanish dialect” dies quickly when u see most Brazilians struggle with even some of the most common Spanish words, like “puedes = pode”. Most Brazilians give zero fucks about Spanish and care more about the Anglosphere than the Hispanosphere
