@alexbmichel you can keep posting here if you want but we don't get much benefit from it anymore.

@nomorefreeways Just don't make this any more of a partisan issue than it already is. Smart urban planning doesn't need to be a liberal thing. You won't meet your goals if you don't get at least moderates on your side.

@smarkreilly we're getting almost the same level of engagement on bluesky that we get now on this site. the algorithms are cooked and our base that we use this platform to communicate with has moved. plus, elon doesn't deserve our money. see you on the other sites!

@alexbmichel these days we primarily use twitter for outreach and organizing and generating public comments and sharing events - and that audience increasingly is on other platforms.

@nomorefreeways You want your message to reach beyond the echo chamber of people who already agree with you. This is a bad decision.

The US plan for road safety: Build a system that requires driving everywhere all the time, optimize it for speed and volume then hope that ~240M drivers are never too drunk, high, young, old, exhausted, angry, bereaved, sick or distracted to make good choices. Bang up job guys.

In the U.S., every 39 minutes, someone dies in a drunk-driving crash. Drive sober or face the consequences. Please plan ahead, stay safe, and keep our roads clear of impaired drivers.

The @USDOT has the sense to tweet about train stations and airports, but the “infrastructure bill” is mostly a slush fund for more highways locking us into decades more of inactivity, pollution, injuries and deaths. This will cost tens thousands of lives and millions of injuries.

It shouldn’t be at all controversial to say that $1.9 billion is far better used to build thousands of units of shelter and housing than to unnecessarily expand a freeway.

Lighting hundreds of $ millions (~$1.9Bn in this case) on fire widening freeways through cities demolishing and dividing communities, bringing traffic, noise, air pollution, CVD, injuries and deaths *and lying about it* has become a DOT standard. They are climate arsonists.

The four horsemen of the US road fatality apocalypse are road design (DOTs), car design (car manufacturers, NHTSA), driver aggression & negligence and laws, subsidies & policies which prioritize driving convenience over human life. They all work together and reinforce each other.

I love P Buttigieg. I really do. He’s brilliant, eloquent, moral and a one of the most effective communicators of our generation. But his silence on the public health and safety dumpster fire that is our national highway system is not OK. A delayed flight is annoying, not lethal.

Hannah and her family filed a passenger complaint with DOT - and was able to get reimbursements after a trip was cancelled. Visit FlightRights.gov to learn what each airline offers if you experience a controllable delay or cancellation.

If I made medical recommendations contrary to the available evidence that were both harmful and a waste of money, I would probably lose my medical license. When do the engineers become liable?
