You are a disgrace to the Sikh community in Mississauga. Sikhs cannot consume halal meat, as it is viewed as barbaric and contrary to our religious beliefs. The fact that you hold a secular office as Mayor while openly promoting practices associated with Sharia raises serious concerns within our community. Being Canadian means equal respect for all religions, not favouring one faith especially while holding a secular position as Mayor. Your remarks are deeply offensive to Sikh residents, and we will not forget this in the next election.

@bruce_barrett Halal describes humane methods of slaughtering animals and to foods free of ingredients like pork and alcohol. Not sure you are speaking of the right practise as “barbaric”.

I was honoured to attend the13th Annual Handi Halal Food Festival Iftar Dinner. Joined by Natalie Hart Ward 5, Dipika Damerla Ward 7 and Deputy Mayor John Kovac Ward 4. The huge Halal Food Festival in Celebration Square takes place again this year June 12 and 13th. Great food!

IERA has a history of platforming extremist views. While they’ve made policy changes and distanced themselves from certain individuals, they’ve never fully addressed or renounced their roots. Canadians should approach their outreach with extreme caution.

Canadians need to wake up. This group handing out free Qurans yesterday in the GTA, the Islamic Education and Research Academy (IERA), has deep roots in Islamic extremism. This isn’t innocent outreach. It’s a front for radical ideology cloaked in religious charity. 🧵

This particular IERA “group” has alleged ties to “Al Iman School” located in Brampton, ON. This is located just minutes away from where they were spotted handing out free Qurans.

Now IERA has shifted focus to the West, including Canada. They’re targeting public spaces, handing out Qurans, and presenting themselves as a peaceful “educational” charity. But their history is anything but peaceful.

BREAKING: Popeyes Canada is accused of buying “unsafe” HALAL meat from a seller that was storing and packaging “rotten or expired” HALAL meat in RESIDENTIAL GARAGES. The lawsuit alleges tainted meat was provided to Popeyes locations across Ontario. ctvnews.ca/toronto/articl…
