@k1rallik Chrome used to upgrade on its own like a malware and shut off my adblocker. I had to delete it and move to Brave for good. Best decision ever.

do you understand what just happened to your computer.. Google Chrome secretly downloaded a 4GB AI model onto your device. Without asking.. Without telling you.. It's called weights.bin. It lives deep in your system folders. It powers Gemini Nano - Google's on-device AI. And if you delete it? Chrome re-downloads it automatically. Like nothing happened. Just Google deciding your hard drive is their storage unit. At 1 billion Chrome users - that's 4 BILLION gigabytes of data pushed silently across the internet. The carbon footprint alone equals tens of thousands of cars running for a year. Check your disk right now: 📁 %LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data\OptGuideOnDeviceModel To stop it: chrome://flags → disable Optimization Guide On Device Model → restart Chrome → delete the folder. Reshare so people know what's sitting on their computers.
Pirat_Nation 🔴@Pirat_Nation

Google Chrome is quietly downloading a roughly 4 GB AI model to many users’ computers without clear upfront consent. The file, called weights.bin, is part of Google’s Gemini Nano on-device language model and lands in the browser’s user data folder under OptGuideOnDeviceModel. It powers built-in AI tools such as “Help me write,” smarter tab suggestions, on-device scam detection, and page summarization. The download triggers automatically for devices meeting minimum hardware requirements, and Chrome often replaces the files if deleted. While the model processes data locally, installation happens in the background with minimal notification. The scale is noteworthy. Hundreds of millions or billions of installations add up to thousands of tonnes of carbon emissions globally from data transfer, even though each is a one-time event. To prevent or remove it, go to chrome://flags, disable the entries for the optimization guide on-device model and Prompt API, restart the browser, and manually delete the folder.

@WallStreetApes This is ridiculous. They attach subscriptions to an already bought product. This is the worst implementation of a subscription model. Why not make the entire thing a subscription, at least people would know what they walk into.

American bought a brand new printer. She bought the ink for the printer, she bought the paper for the printer, now she’s at home and is ready to print She can’t print “They remotely shut off my printer until I paid $7.50 cents to print in my own home, to print on my printer, that I own in my home” This is the new $7.50 subscription plan by HP Printers Here’s how the plans work HP’s Instant Ink and newer All-in Plan programs are subscription services options: - You pay a monthly fee based on pages printed (not ink used). - Plans start low, from $1.79–$7.99 per month for 10–100 pages - $7–$8 per month plans are for around 100 pages If your payment fails. HP will remotely shutoff your printer

🚨 Do you understand what just happened to Anthropic.. someone on their team ran a production build of Claude Code.. the compiler generated a .map file.. which is literally a blueprint that reverses the entire codebase back to its original source.. and then they published it straight to npm for the whole world to download.. it's like locking every door in your house.. installing cameras.. hiring armed guards.. then accidentally uploading your floor plans to Google Maps.. this is the same company that told Congress AI is an existential threat.. the same company that spent $8 billion building "the most safety-focused lab on earth".. the same company the Pentagon blacklisted as a "supply chain risk" because they were supposedly TOO principled.. and they got exposed by a config file that any mid-level engineer would've caught in a code review..

🚨 Did you see what Ben Affleck just pulled off? Six weeks ago Ben Affleck went on Joe Rogan and said AI making movies is "bullshit." Today Netflix is paying him $600 million for his AI film company. That's the game right there. Publicly trash AI so nobody takes it seriously. Privately build an AI company while everyone's still arguing about whether it works. Then sell it for half a billion before anyone catches on. > He wasn't hating on AI. He was protecting his head start. This is the playbook for 2026. The loudest AI skeptics are the ones quietly building with it. Every person on your timeline saying "AI will never replace real artists" is Googling "how to use AI in my workflow" at 1am. > Affleck just made more money from AI than most AI startups. And he did it while calling it bullshit on camera. That's not hypocrisy. That's strategy.
Polymarket@Polymarket

JUST IN: Netflix will pay as much as $600 million for Ben Affleck's AI film company.

🚨 Stop scrolling. This is the biggest betrayal in tech this year. The company that built its entire reputation on BLOCKING scrapers just shipped the most powerful scraping tool ever made. > Cloudflare just dropped a /crawl endpoint. One API call and you get an entire website back. Clean HTML, Markdown, or JSON. That's it. That's the whole thing. Let me break it down. For years, Cloudflare sold anti-bot protection. Companies paid them to STOP crawlers. Now those same companies are watching Cloudflare hand everyone a free crawler that bypasses… other people's anti-bot protection. They didn't switch sides. They're playing both sides. And getting paid twice.
Cloudflare Developers@CloudflareDev

Introducing the new /crawl endpoint - one API call and an entire site crawled. No scripts. No browser management. Just the content in HTML, Markdown, or JSON.
