This is apparently very hard to understand so I’ll have to spell it out for some people. When Alex traded for Kelenic, he took on two horrific contracts. He did so thinking he could possibly move those contracts. The first one he managed to move two days later to the Pirates who were desperate for SP. The 2nd, arguably the worst contract in baseball, he managed to not only move, he got a piece that the Braves were needing in a utility guy. Grissom was not going to work out as the backup SS. Sure, there is still money attached to Fletcher, but bringing him in to be a guy we can count on to give us great defense in a backup infielder so that Grissom can focus on the move to LF or even be used in a trade is smart. All 26 guys in the 26 man roster are not stars.
