@kisslaterw The show definitely warped people’s memories of the books. The word diet isn’t in HR at all. It shows up for the first time in TLG. For some reason, the show decided to put multiple references to the diet in season 1 and ppl think it’s from the book.

Shane eats regularly until he turns 29. He starts his strict performance diet because he’s scared of ageing and not being able to play hockey. His diet only lasts a year and he stops it before turning 30 as he excepts that ageing is inevitable.
