one thing i find really interesting about the retrieval arc is that kishimoto establishes very early on that naruto’s idea of “saving” sasuke has almost nothing to do with preserving his body and everything to do with preserving who he believes sasuke is. naruto literally says-

I don’t see them skipping Zabuza and Haku arc when it’s so fundamental to the core of the story: Naruto and Sasuke’s bond. But I do see them making the Chuunin tournament shorter and not focusing on other teams and duels as much

How I think they will do: - They are not doing Zabuza and Haku arc, starting from Chunin Exam directly and it will be all up till the end of exam, ending with 3rd hokage death + teaser for Itachi - Second movie with have Sasuke retrieval arc, his backstory and their end fight
