Since this is blowing up on hacker news. Boris said that CLI usage is allowed. Thus we added support for it, only to find out that we are still blocked there. @ziwenxu_ I wish i don't have to use claude app but I'd expect anthropic to push back and months down the road, another great project will get wiped because it all comes down to the AI model oauth access. kind amazing that claude code app works basically like a dumb openclaw

Claude Banned OpenClaw OAuth? We Bypassed It. Anthropic killed 3rd-party OAuth for subs today (April 4), shoving everyone onto the expensive API. OpenClaw doesn't care. We're moving downstream. Instead of fighting the OAuth ban, we're piping Claude CLI directly into OpenClaw. Your subscription stays valid, your wallet stays shut, and the agents keep running. The "Bypass" Setup: - Confirm you're signed in on your host: claude auth status - Run this to flip your gateway from the banned API path to the CLI backend: - Bash openclaw models auth login --provider anthropic --method cli --set-default - OpenClaw now calls your local claude binary. It reuses your session IDs and sub limits withoricted OAuth endpoints. - use model claude-cli/opus-4.6 to access it Important note: Anthropic requires Extra Usage instead of included Claude subscription limits for this path. They can ban us but they can't stop us

Claude Code --remote-control vs Openclaw Openclaw is better when it comes to automation and relooping but claude code can still perform the same capabilties. + the file structure is so much easier to manage

@ziwenxu_ true. I’ve basically converted myself to fully claude —remote-control now it sucks but it’s not bad and basically does everything i want. Dispatch is ok but uses up too many token usage. Claude code is the way to go i guess

@northkage_ That’s why I called bypass. There’s no legit way to do it anymore. Just switch to something else. That’s the only thing I can say.

@jwsaml Yup. Migrated everything last night. basically able to do almost everything besides the auto loops buts it’s better than nothing.

Has anyone fully replaced OpenClaw with their Claude setup?

openclaw is basically unusable since today's ban on 3rd party apps... I hate to say it but migrating it purely for dispatch + claude code might be the move. 80% of the tools are still operational. It won't respond back on tasks but I hope it gets there. Might be the move
