Speed Camera van deployments A693 Blind Lane,CLS. 6 visits in March 2026. 105 drivers triggered the safety cameras: 1 driver fell within Process Level (Court action) 13 drivers fell within Conditional offer level (fine&points) 91 drivers fell within Speed Awareness Course level

After reports of some suspicious activity. Residents in the parish, are reminded to make sure that their stationary, unattended vehicle/s are secure. Also, that all valuables are placed out of sight or even better removed from the stationary vehicles.

PACT (Police and Communities Together) Meeting. Wednesday 8th April, 6pm-7pm At the Lambton Worm Pub, North Road, North Lodge, Chester-le-Street, Co Durham DH3 4AJ. Representatives from Police, Fire Service, Neighbourhood Wardens & other community groups will be in attendance.

Don’t forget folks - Tonight it’s Spring Forward clock change for the UK. Sunday, March 29th 2026. At 1:00 am, clocks move forward to 2:00 am, losing one hour of sleep but providing longer, lighter evenings. ⏰

We are working with our partners HW Martin, who run our Household Waste Recycling Centres, to promote the reuse of tins of unwanted paint! Donated paint tins can be collected for free at all of our Household Waste Recycling Centres! (HWRCs). Stainton Grove HWRC sell paint in their on-site reuse shop. Ask staff on site which paint is available (water based paint only such as emulsion and not gloss.) More information: durham.gov.uk/HWRC

On Thursday, 26th March, there were two speed monitoring exercises carried out in North Road, North Lodge. Six vehicles were recorded as exceeding the speed limit for that road.

♻️ Don’t forget, your waste and recycling collections are changing from 31 March! Here’s what you need to know 👇 🟦 Glass recycling You can no longer use your green box for glass. Instead, all glass should go in your blue-lidded bin along with paper, card, plastics and cans. 🛍️ Extra recycling If your blue bin is full, you can put extra recycling (except glass) in a clear plastic bag and leave it next to your bin. ❗ Important: we can’t collect any glass that isn’t inside the bin. 🟩 What about your green box? You don’t need to return it; you’re welcome to keep and reuse it. If you do want to return it then please put it out from 31 March, it will be collected and recycled. 🌍 Why the change? On 20.3.26 Parish Cllr Gregory assisted the Police with community speed watch monitoring in North Road, near Park View Lower School. Hopefully, further community speed watch monitoring will be arranged for North Road in the future. If residents wish to help contact NLPC Clerk.

Litter pick around the parish this week with 8 local residents helping out. The volunteers collected 14 bags of rubbish from Blind Lane, the lay-by on the A693, North Road & the C2C path. Thanks to the volunteers. We will continue to do more litter picks and welcome more helpers.

Durham Constabulary has asked that residents living in rural areas surrounding Chester le Street stay vigilant. Officers have responded to reports of several burglaries in the last week. Call 101 if you see anything suspicious or 999 in an emergency.

As part of Durham County Council’s The Big Spring Clean - The next Parish Council litter pick will be on Tuesday 24th March 2026 at 11am. Meet at the Lambton Worm car park. Free cuppa and bacon sarnie. Come along and help clean up the area.

Recently North Lodge Remembrance Group purchased and fitted 2 Bleed Control Kits next to our Defibrillators at the Lambton Worm and Wheatsheaf Public Houses. Another 2 pieces of living saving equipment in the North Lodge and Picktree Parish.

Dog Fouling in the Parish has risen lately. This appears to be happening in the late evening or early morning, when it’s dark. The playing field at Low Flatts & C2C route is particularly bad. We are arranging Wardens to patrol the area & fines may be issued to offenders.

They are Prunus Cherry Serrula and will have Spring blossom and beautiful shiny bark. It has taken a lot of work, time and negotiations with DCC to enable us to plant them.

Residents may have noticed that the Parish Council has planted 3 new trees on Vigo Lane. They are to commemorate - Tree canopy initiative of the late Queen Elizabeth II, Coronation of King Charles III & 80th VE Day. Hopefully their beauty & symbolism is appreciated as they grow.
