My British 🇬🇧 colleagues at work laugh at me each time I say I want to buy a house and pay off on time.. They ask me if I intend to live here when I’m old and I said to them that it’s a possibility. They told me that “what is the point of working so hard to pay off a house that the government can repossess if at some point I need to use the care home?” They said “what is the point of paying off a house that I cannot transfer to my kids without them paying inheritance tax” They encouraged me to “get a mortgage and choose the longest repayment plan, pay as little as a I can per month, enjoy the house as much as I want, but never think of paying it off” If this is how an average UK 🇬🇧 citizen thinks, then I believe they know what we don’t know. What is your opinion about this???

As of today 4th may 2026 Nobody has picked Labour Party Presidential ticket, this is what happens when you think you have arrived because you experienced a one time boom 💥. Peter Obi was the reason for your success but your party leadership failed 😞 The Labour Party releases its 2027 election timetable, setting fees for its nomination forms. Presidential aspirants will pay N50m, while Gov. Otti is exemption from paying. A party that was talk of the country just 3 years ago cannot secure one strong politician to come and run for presidency under them, they have resorted to offering Abia state Governor Alex Otti free presidential ticket if he declares interest but the Governor is not succumbing to their offer. You people have learnt the hard way now back to trenches except in Abia State.

I grew up in Anambra State, and I saw this up close. One of my classmates’ fathers served as a Commissioner under Peter Obi. Let me make it very clear: Peter Obi didn’t build his cabinet around career politicians. He deliberately brought in professionals from different fields, people who already had established careers before government. My classmate’s dad is a senior lawyer with law chambers in Anambra, Abia, and now Lagos. After serving in government, he simply returned to legal practice. No drama, no clinging to power. His Chief of Staff, who later became Commissioner for Information, was a professor and lecturer. When the administration ended, she went straight back to academia. That was the pattern. These were people who had something to return to, so they weren’t in office to survive. they were there to serve. Compare that to the usual system dominated by career politicians, where public office becomes a permanent livelihood, and you’ll understand the difference immediately. It’s really not complicated: When you appoint professionals, they serve and go back to their lives. When you appoint career politicians, they stay and turn governance into a career.

If you understand chess, you’ll know that sometimes your opponent makes a move that forces your hand, if you don’t reposition immediately, it’s checkmate. That’s the situation Peter Obi was heading into. Staying put would have boxed him in completely. So this move isn’t random, it’s strategic, and honestly, his best option going forward. The plan seemed clear before; keep him in ADC, hand the ticket to Atiku Abubakar, and wait until the INEC deadline passes. At that point, Obi would have no viable platform left and would effectively be pushed out of the 2027 race. From a chess perspective, this move is simply him refusing to be checkmated.

Peter Obi is very smart and i will explain. Obi and Dickson had a meeting last year. Dickson went ahead and formed the NDC. Peter Obi knew Tinubu would try to shatter the ADC coalition, so he moved ahead of time. El-Rufai said last December that the ADC coalition was just a temporary solution. These men are several steps ahead of Tinubu this time. Now both Obi and Kwankwaso have defected to the NDC. El-Rufai will join them next week. Atiku and Tinubu didn’t see it coming. It's over 💔
