It was an excellent movie and it’s one I recommend everyone go see in IMAX. I usually save my 5/5s for “masterpieces” and I think this could potentially qualify when I rewatch. I don’t do half scores, so for right now it’s a 4/5, but DEFINITELY worth seeing.

Ryan Gosling is the first name worth circling on any early Oscar ballot this year, thanks to #ProjectHailMary.
Gosling’s dynamic with James Ortiz’s Rocky — equal parts humorous, tense and genuinely moving — gives the film its emotional core, providing the leading man with a scene partner who draws out some of his most spontaneous and effective acting moments.
The mission, should Amazon MGM choose to accept it, is to bring this film back into the conversation come fall, return it to theaters and remind voters exactly what made it special the first time around.
