The only runway at Phuket Airport is closed after a landing incident involving Air India Express flight #IX938 (Boeing 737 MAX 8 with registration VT-BWQ) The aircraft landed at 04:24 UTC and pictures in social media show the aircraft on the runway with it's front landing gear damaged. According to NOTAM the runway will remain remain closed until 11:00 UTC.

ท่าอากาศยานภูเก็ต แจงกรณีอากาศยานขัดข้องบนทางวิ่ง ไม่มีผู้ได้รับบาดเจ็บ และเร่งดำเนินการตามมาตรฐานความปลอดภัย วันที่ 11 มีนาคม 2569 ท่าอากาศยานภูเก็ต (ทภก.) ชี้แจงกรณีอากาศยานของสายการบิน Air India Express เที่ยวบิน AXB938 เส้นทางบิน ไฮเดอราบัด (HYD) – ภูเก็ต (HKT) เกิดเหตุขัดข้องบนทางวิ่งภายหลังการลงจอด อากาศยานดังกล่าวเป็นแบบ Boeing 737-800 หมายเลขทะเบียน VT-BWQ เดินทางถึงท่าอากาศยานภูเก็ตก่อนเวลาตามแผน โดยมีกำหนดการลงจอดเวลา 11.40 น. และลงจอดจริงเวลา 11.24 น. บนเครื่องมีลูกเรือจำนวน 7 คน ผู้โดยสารขาเข้า 131 คน และทารก 2 คน จากการตรวจสอบเบื้องต้นพบว่า อากาศยานมีการลงจอดในลักษณะ Hard Landing ส่งผลให้ชุดเกียร์ ล้อหน้าของอากาศยานได้รับความเสียหาย ทำให้อากาศยานไม่สามารถเคลื่อนย้ายออกจากทางวิ่งได้ในทันที อย่างไรก็ตาม ไม่มีรายงานผู้ได้รับบาดเจ็บจากเหตุการณ์ดังกล่าว ท่าอากาศยานภูเก็ตได้ดำเนินการออกประกาศนักบิน (NOTAM) ตั้งแต่เวลา 12.08-18.00 น. เพื่อแจ้งปิดทางวิ่งเป็นการชั่วคราว พร้อมทั้งประสานหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องเข้าควบคุมสถานการณ์ และดำเนินการตามขั้นตอนด้านความปลอดภัยของท่าอากาศยานอย่างเคร่งครัด
