@thermocentric I think there's a lot of merit to this. Even when Akemura broke free, Samura still didn't want to kill him due to the eternal contracts. He only made up his mind and went for the kill at the very end.

i was thinking maybe one of the reasons they couldn’t stop akemura is because they didn’t want to. killing akemura would mean killing themselves (thanks to the contracts), so maybe they were also feeling guilt over choosing their own lives over the lives of 200k innocents.
