@doshch Yeah, It's almost fun to watch newborn AI experts coming out of the woodworks to build AI taxonomy tools, while asking for help from taxonomists.
I heard a new reason for why biologists don’t preprint: “I don’t want to preprint because I want to delay publication as much as possible so I can advance the follow up research before sharing my work.” kamounlab.medium.com/herding-cats-h…
@MS_fungi and what's more important, is the false information. E.g., it says "Hyphae densely branching and frequently anastomoses [?], with a loop-like basal clamp attachment." - that's just not true, most dacrymycetes are clampless.
etc etc
@MS_fungi Well, yes, but that was a rather big chunk of text. If author thinks that they cannot express the facts better than the reference, then just quote the whole part or indicate somehow that it is reproduced without changes - I have no issue with that.
(Original below, BTW)
New paper out 🚨:
Classes and phyla of the kingdom Fungi - published in Fungal Diversity.
Here we accept 19 phyla of Fungi, resolving the classification of early divergent fungi. Check the amazing figures showing the beauty of Fungi!
Heading back after a great conference @IMC12NL. First Time in the @Eurostar. Thank you to all the organisers for allowing this great get-together full of scientic exchanges. Always a pleasure to see & discuss to familiar faces and to meet new people.
