NEW: Tory candidate Craig Williams, Rishi Sunak's closest parliamentary aide, has apologised and tells @BBCNews he made a "huge error of judgement" over betting on the date of the next general election.

@AnnaLongthorp @kenyanpigfarmer @FarmersWeekly Anna - there has been no personal gain for me. And FW doesn’t make money from clicks and likes on FB, X or Instagram. People have called me names (like fat dyke or prick) questioned my motives, called for me to be sacked. I wrote the piece because it was the right thing to do.

Good Lord. Simple question: if a minimum of 40K kids arrive in the state sector this September, where will they be schooled? The extra burden on the taxpayer will be greater than any VAT payment to govt for those that remain in the private sector.
Chris Rose@ArchRose90

“When there's a forecast that between 40k & 224k private students may have to leave their schools. What will Lab do to accomodate them in the state sector? Lab have campaigned saying schools are overcrowded and oversubscribed.” Yvette Cooper fails FOUR times to explain this.

@woodboroughpark Our Kress does 40% of its claimed capacity easily in 2 days. Contrary to other replies we keep it going 12 months of the year, grass keeps growing we keep mowing.

We have been trialling a Husqvarna robotic mower (GPS). I would be interested to know of others’ experiences? (I don’t think it cuts anywhere near the claimed area in a day - as in possibly no more than 60%)?

Wheat should be growing in John Charles-Jones' field, instead he's left with unimaginable damage caused by storms. Ahead of the next general election, we are asking the government to support farmers with flood management & compensate them fairly👉ow.ly/yv2650RiN53

@DaveThroup I work in food manufacturing and have responded on behalf of our parent company to Borehole abstraction consultation proposals, one about 8 years ago and forecast this would happen.

Agriculture and businesses that have existing licences to abstract water can expect to see them reduced or revoked in future due to water shortages. Yellow and red areas need to find big reductions. While Summers get hotter and drier. Good luck!

Worrying reports that tenants are being 'cajoled' & even 'duped' into joining Landscape Recovery. "If you were a farmer represented in a bid that had been put in by your landlord, would you feel able to talk? They wouldn’t. It stinks." @tenantfarmers fwi.co.uk/news/tenants-b…

For decades these farmers, by choosing Monsanto, GM crops, Industrial Ag, and Factory farming, have sided with the same Agenda as is behind the Reset. If they want my support, they have to return to the organic and freerange farming of our recent ancestors, instead of being stooges for the Agenda.

You thought 2023 was hot? 2024 looks BROILING hot. The forecast for the next 3 months looks like it'll be the hottest spring ever recorded. The limits of human survivability will once again be pushed in many regions around the globe.

This is precisely why we have continually asked @DefraGovUK to do a food production impact assessment as farm businesses transition to stewardship schemes. It absolutely must happen this year. Real life consequences at stake #MentalHeathMatters 👇
Geoff Sansome@HawfordFarm

Calls to @FCNcharity helpline for December. Really not good. Looking at the graph you could conclude that withdrawal of BPS, transitioning to Stewardship, is causing financial difficulties for many, leading to mental wellbeing issues. #Farming #mentalhealthmatters

@Andrews80820780 Yes, I believe in the scientific consensus and my own experience as a farmer (and human being with eyes) that the climate is undergoing rapid and extreme change, for the worse.

So many populist far-right demagogues in my feed being RT’d by UK farmers. Please, do a cursory check of their output before you RT. We can’t be so desperate for affirmation that we would intentionally get into bed with ethno-nationalist climate change deniers & conspiracists?

When you promise carbon neutral 10 years before any other industry based on flawed calculations that decimates ruminant agriculture. No wonder members are like meerkats, wondering what will be decided in their name. BTW “large organisation” 🤨🤣🤣🤣
Joe Stanley@JoeWStanley

@geo9cwb Because you can’t run a large organisation with a remit to cover many sensitive issues as an open book. Members are perfectly entitled to know what the NFU is doing on their behalf. The rest of the world isn’t. It’s detrimental to the effective operation of the organisation.
