Notts Sport has successfully completed the refurbishment of a brand-new FA Register 3G football pitch at One Leisure St Neots, delivering a modern, all-weather sports facility designed to support grassroots football and year-round community use in Cambridgeshire. Funded by Huntingdonshire District Council (HDC), the project was delivered under HDC’s direction, with Notts Sport appointed to project manage the refurbishment works and by Bernhards Sports Surfaces who completed the transformation of the ageing facility into a 3G football pitch. The original facility was installed more than 20 years ago and initially operated as tennis courts before later being converted into a sand-filled multi-use games area (MUGA). Over time, the surface had become heavily worn, with damaged seams, deterioration to the underlying shockpad and areas of unevenness affecting both playability and safety. As the pitch is now used exclusively for football, there was no longer a requirement for a sand-dressed multi-sport surface. The decision was therefore made to upgrade the facility to a dedicated 3G football pitch, providing a significantly improved playing experience. The refurbishment included the installation of a FIFA Quality specification 3G artificial grass system across the 1,795m² playing area, alongside a new performance shockpad to enhance player comfort and surface performance. While the facility is not large enough to undergo official FIFA certification testing, the surface has been independently tested to FA Register standards, ensuring it meets the performance requirements for grassroots football use. The project also involved targeted base repairs to address existing undulations, replacement rebound boards and fencing upgrades, as well as new inlaid line markings for small-sided football. The completed facility now provides local clubs, schools and community users with a reliable, high-quality artificial football pitch capable of supporting intensive use throughout the year, regardless of weather conditions. Natalie Taylor from One Leisure St Neots commented: “We’re absolutely delighted with the transformation of our new 3G facility. The pitch looks incredible and provides a fantastic environment for our customers, clubs and community groups to enjoy football all year round. The quality of the surface is outstanding and we’re excited to see the community making full use of it.” The project reflects Notts Sport’s continued expertise in the design and delivery of artificial grass sports facilities across the UK, helping leisure operators and local authorities upgrade ageing infrastructure and create future-ready environments for sport and recreation.

We recently visited our completed project at @oneleisureuk , St Neots. This transformation has taken a 20-year-old pitch that had reached the end of its usable life and turned it into a stunning 3G pitch. The upgrade enhances the playing experience and revitalises the facility for the community. The installation was completed by Bernhards Sports Surfaces Ltd. #3G #LeisureCentre #SportsFacility

Notts Sport was proud to once again sponsor the @EnglandHockey School Championships, continuing its long-standing support of one of the most important competitions in the schools’ hockey calendar. Running across several months, the Championships see schools from across the country compete through regional and knockout stages, culminating in a series of national finals held at venues including the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre. The competition provides a structured and aspirational pathway for young players, while maintaining a strong focus on participation and development. Across both the boys’ and girls’ competitions, the standard of play throughout the finals stages was consistently high. Players demonstrated excellent technical ability, teamwork and composure, reflecting the quality of coaching and commitment within school hockey programmes nationwide. In the boys’ competition, Whitgift School secured a notable triple, winning the U14 Cup, U16 Cup and U18 Cup. The girls’ competition delivered equally strong performances with Surbiton High winning the U14 Cup and the U16 and U18 Plate. Alongside the Cup competitions, Plate, Shield, Trophy and Vase events ensured broad participation, giving players of all levels the opportunity to compete in a national finals environment. This structure is central to the continued growth and accessibility of the game. For many participants, the Championships represent an important step in their development, offering valuable experience in a high-pressured setting and supporting progression within the sport. Congratulations to all teams, whose teamwork and determination were a credit to their schools. Mark Wood, Head of Marketing at Notts Sport, said: “We’re incredibly proud to continue our support of the England Hockey School Championships. Grassroots sport is at the heart of everything we do, and ensuring hockey continues to thrive at school level is essential for the future of the game. The standard on display at these finals is always exceptional, not just in terms of talent, but the passion and commitment shown by every player. It’s a privilege for Notts Sport to help create these opportunities and support the next generation of hockey talent.” Notts Sport’s ongoing partnership with England Hockey reflects its commitment to supporting grassroots sport and investing in the future of hockey. This @EarthDay, we’re reflecting on what sustainability really means, not just today, but every day. For us, it’s about progress. Continuously researching, developing and exploring new products and solutions that reduce environmental impact, from limiting microplastics and increasing recycled content, to adapting as new standards evolve. Products like #CocoTurf are part of that journey, but they’re not the whole story. Our focus is on pushing forward as an industry, always looking for better, more sustainable solutions. Alongside this, our tree planting initiative continues to grow. Through our partnership with @treenation, we’re helping support global reforestation and contribute to greener spaces beyond the projects we deliver. There’s always more to do and we’re committed to finding better ways, every step of the way. Learn more: lnkd.in/ePMTRDdD #EarthDay

Avon Valley Academy has significantly enhanced its outdoor sports facilities through the redevelopment of its existing synthetic courts, with Notts Sport delivering modern, floodlit playing surfaces for both students and the local community. Working in partnership with Acorn Education Trust, Notts Sport designed and specified a refurbishment project that transformed two ageing sand-filled tennis courts into two new specialist synthetic sports surfaces. The redevelopment includes the installation of a 3G synthetic turf pitch alongside a sand-dressed Gen2 artificial grass court. The scheme was carefully designed to maximise the use of the existing footprint, creating more versatile sports spaces capable of supporting a wide range of activities. To further improve the functionality and management of the facility, new gates and access points were incorporated, allowing each court to be accessed independently. The installation was carried out by sports construction specialists A S Sports, working to the high performance and durability standards set by Notts Sport. To ensure year-round usability, the facility has been fully floodlit, significantly extending available playing hours. During the day, the upgraded pitches are used by students at Avon Valley Academy for PE lessons and sport. In the evenings, the facility supports wider community use through a partnership with Lifestyle Fitness, who manage the academy’s gym and community sports provision. Duncan Bennett, CEO of Notts Sport, commented: “This project demonstrates how refurbishing existing sports infrastructure can deliver modern, high-performance facilities while supporting both school sport and community engagement. “It’s always rewarding to be involved in projects that create long-term value for schools and their communities. The new surfaces at Avon Valley Academy provide durable, versatile sports spaces that will benefit both students and local users for many years to come.” If you would like to find out how Notts Sport can support your next sports facility project, our team would be happy to help. We’re proud to see CocoTurf installed at Highbury Fields as part of a new outdoor fitness space delivered by Swing Fitness. Set within one of London’s busiest public parks, the project called for a surface that could handle high daily use while supporting comfort, safety, and sustainability. Made from natural coconut fibres, CocoTurf provides a non-plastic alternative to traditional synthetic turf — delivering durability for functional fitness alongside a softer, more natural feel underfoot. Its natural appearance also allows the space to sit within the park environment, supporting both performance and aesthetics. As Sam Morris, Notts Sport, explains: “This project is a great example of how we can rethink traditional surfacing using natural materials without compromising on performance. CocoTurf was developed to offer a genuine alternative to plastic-based systems, and seeing it used in a busy community space like Highbury Fields really brings that vision to life.” This installation highlights how sustainable materials can play a key role in shaping the future of urban fitness and recreational spaces. cocoturf.co.uk #SustainablePlay
