This morning Jacob Siegel manufactured a controversy to gin up sales for his error-riddled book; he admits as much in the article he wrote for @TheFP, where he plays victim and pretends that a correction is cEnsoRsHiP. He says I "didn't deny" asking The Baffler to pull its review of my book but I absolutely fucking do lol. And I did on the phone with an editor for The Free Press this afternoon. Somehow, Jacob's email to me demanding my emails with other publications was supposed to serve as its own factcheck. As for people “questioning the legitimacy of the endeavor itself” — it’s been literally 3 years of investigations and no one has found any evidence of maSs cEnsOrShiP or wrongdoing. Jacob’s book is a rewarmed essay from 3 years ago, maybe you haven’t been paying attention to everything that’s happened since.

Blah blah blah projection. He did criticize; and when he crossed the line into bullshitting, I requested a correction. The crash out here is from the man who wrote 3000 words of innuendo and still got the first ones wrong. The person not immune to critique here is *him*. He wrote a book that’s full of mistakes and strung-together innuendo. Ask him about how he made fun of Benz and Shellenberger for the ‘hurr durr CIA’ conspiracizing before doing it himself. No one tried to censor 22 million tweets — glad we all agree! — so what’s this “largest censorship machine in existence” that I became “the leader” of lol? What did I do with Ham68 exactly? Make him say the thing. 😂 He’s lying to you all with innuendo. And as for factual errors there are dozens in the book. I’ll send his publisher the errata, don’t worry.

Renee DiResta's attacks on my book THE INFORMATION STATE are based on outright falsehoods and prevarications. I documented the numerous errors and distortions she uses to deflect scrutiny from her public record, along with the primary source evidence that shows the claims are false.

If you don’t see the difference between *helped lead* and what Jacob clearly meant by “came to lead” (singular) in his paranoid conspiracy procedural there, then you’re one of the rubes he’s writing for. Lap it up. That fantasy June meeting he writes about also never happened btw.

What’s curious is that objecting to Jacob’s inflated bullshit is seen as odd. I am very *proud* of my work on EIP which is why I say I *helped lead* it in many places. Siegel’s error-riddled book wanted a single villain “leader” — so he spun up a bunch of innuendo and still got it wrong.

I'm not interested in litigating this any further and would like to move on. But I think it's significant that major publications will blithely censor speech at the behest of people who are this brazenly dishonest. Then if it was just classifying them after the election, Jonathan, how did it do a mass censorship? Jacob wrote my super secret CIA girl character sketch quite intentionally to elevate me to single-leader status. I also didn’t work on Ham68 or run project Birmingham…and Jonathon Morgan wasn’t my coauthor on the Senate report lol. The book tried to hard to create its villain and got sloppy. You’re excusing it because you want to believe.

And the book says EIP was "classifying" 22 million tweets as misinformation, not censoring them. You have problems either with telling the truth or looking in the mirror. It seems both.

In a word, DiResta accuses me of malinformation, which means that what I have written is true, but not to her liking. That is the essence of her argument; the rest is a collection of insults, deflections, and prevarications. Its purpose is to dictate how journalists and other commentators are allowed to cover a public figure.

These claims are false. They’ve been litigated — literally, at times — in many places. Aren’t you a little embarrassed that your readers keep mistaking what you write in exactly the same way? The data ingest and storage was not the same as the data pull to do the actual classification — I’m sorry you find this so hard to grasp. Tweets were not classified during ingest. This was explained to you in person, long before you published. The point is: your largest censorship whatever in existence bullshit collapsed. So what was the “largest” part? And what is the relevant part of the CIA thing lol? Just call him Mike Benz II.
