Vehicles more than 15 years old to be denied fuel in Delhi after March 31: Environment Minister Manjinder Sirsa. The NGT has already banned such vehicles in Delhi, so Sirsa is just enforcing NGT's order. But I have just one question: What’s the point of PUC if vehicles are banned purely based on age? Not everyone can afford a new car every 15 years. Many people maintain their cars well, and even after 15 years, their vehicles might pollute less than some younger poorly maintained ones. If a car meets emission norms, why ban it? Is there no reward for good compliance? Why should people pay for the govt's inability to enforce a strict PUC and fitness norms? Such policies force people to buy new cars, benefiting automakers and boosting govt revenues. A win-win, except for the common people.

Some people here on Twitter (X) continuously ask about my caste and whether I am from a quota. Here is the answer - Yes, I am a beneficiary of affirmative actions (reservation). What is my story? When I was 4 years old, I lost my father. We didn't have any land or ancestral property. My mother worked as a daily wager, raising four of us. She enrolled all of us in the government school in my village. From the second standard to the seventh standard, I was the class topper. While some of you might be going on vacation tours to different parts of India or the world in the summer, my brothers and I used to work at small construction sites to earn money to buy our own books and uniforms for school. Until the 10th grade, I never had any coaching, unlike most of my batchmates who enjoyed that luxury. Despite this, I scored 79.80% in the 10th class. I was the 20th topper in my school, which had around 300 students. During the summer vacation after the 10th exam, I worked at a catering service. I never wanted to become a doctor, but my elder brother wanted me to try. Because of the high tuition fees, I was reluctant to go for the CET, but my elder brother requested a teacher to provide me with free coaching. He agreed under the condition that if I scored more than 90 marks in the combined test of biology, I would receive free coaching. I studied day and night and scored 95 marks, standing as the 5th topper in the class. For physics and chemistry, I didn't have any proper tuition and studied on my own. In the 2012 MHTCET, I scored 175/200 marks - 98 in biology, 40 in physics, and 37 in chemistry. In the board exam, I got 80% marks despite not having good coaching. After the result, my family and I were very happy. In the surrounding 3-4 villages or among my relatives, there was no one else pursuing MBBS. I am the first doctor from my village. Until then, I was unaware of my caste. A friend told me that I would get admission in Mumbai because I was from the quota. That was the first time I became aware of my caste! Yes, I got admission through reservation at JJ Hospital Mumbai. My family didn't have enough money for my admission, but a trust helped me by donating 25,000 rupees. I am indebted to their generous help. The same teacher who gave me free coaching for biology also gave me 500 rupees per month throughout my MBBS. Throughout my first to final year of MBBS, I maintained an aggregate score of 65%. I never took help from others to pass. In MBBS, many students had the luxury of joining Bhatia/DAMS coaching classes, but I didn't join due to financial constraints. After my MBBS, I completed compulsory bond service at JJ Hospital and simultaneously studied for NEET PG-2018 without coaching classes. I achieved a rank of 7900 in NEET PG. I wish I could have studied for a whole year without doing bond service so that I could have scored more marks. Yes, I got admission through reservation at JJ Hospital Mumbai in General Medicine. Throughout my residency, I worked sincerely. I passed on my first attempt only. I was the second topper in theory at my college, but I didn't receive good marks in the practical exams. In the last NEET SS, I achieved a rank of 3500 without Marrow/SPEED. However, I do not want to pursue a super specialty. Recently, I passed DNB Medicine. People in India often equate reservation with incompetency or mediocrity. This is shameful. We are not mediocre or incompetent; we simply lack resources and money. I know some of you hate us and mock us. You discriminate against us based on caste, color, or background. If given an opportunity, we are not incompetent or mediocre. It is simply a matter of opportunity. So, what is merit? My foot! Go ahead and hate/discriminate against us. 'Caste is a state of mind, it is a disease of the mind' - And you people are sick and in need of treatment. 🤫 I am proud of my background.
