@CatherineCook58 The photo is very fitting because one of the things that Kent has written about is how for many students without fluency, it's like climbing a mountain with a bag of bricks on their back.

AI seems to be giving learning styles a revival, the comeback we don't need. I'm currently reading, 'Open to Work.' The tag line states: How to get ahead in the age of AI. It's a topical, modern & cutting edge book and then ... I read how AI can be used to adapt to the individual learning style of the user. How long ago was learning styles debunked? Yes people have preferences but it doesn't mean their way is the most effective & efficient way to learn, it means it's the most comfortable. I understand the appeal of learning styles but early in my career when this was promoted I felt uncomfortable with it. I thought, really? Then we have the teacher workload issue. I've written about learning styles before, in 2024 I wrote that it was the learning myth that lingers. 2026 it seems to be back in the spotlight because of AI. The irony of this modern technology promoting an outdated teaching & learning approach! You can read my article here evidencebased.education/resource/the-l…

Great news! I just recorded TWO Chalk & Talk mailbag episodes with the amazing @JRED530 🎙️ We had so many thoughtful questions come in from teachers and parents that we'll be splitting it into two episodes. Coming soon on Chalk & Talk! 🎧

What Counts as Evidence? Beware of things like position statements or opinion pieces. They are not evidence. 🚩📄 Also, vague terms like "number sense" can’t be clearly measured. 🔗 Link below
