@seanwebbhalifax@NSTeachersUnion One specialist per family of schools. That’s a huge loss. Kids no longer have direct access to trained art teachers who can foster those complex skills of creativity.
@NSTeachersUnion My take: HREC is being cautious re: supplementary funding. They have been working to spread it around outside of the Halifax/Dartmouth core for several years now. Partly for equality, partly to achieve broader support among city councillors.
22 schools across HRM are losing their art teachers next year, as the Halifax Centre of Education consolidates visuals arts programming. #nspolithechronicleherald.ca/novascotia/157…
@TimothyHalman@zachchurchill HRCE making the loss of school based art programs into story about “expanding arts” total of 11 teachers to work for all the Family of Schools. That a ratio of 1 specialist for 3000 students. And this is expanding?!?
I’m hearing lots of concerns about cuts and reallocation of guidance and specialist positions in our education system, esp at Jr high and elem.
@zachchurchill can you clarify what is happening with staffing and NOAs?

. @ChenderMLA wrote to Minister Zach Churchill today after multiple reports from parents and teachers that all classroom-based arts teaching positions are being eliminated in elementary schools in the HRM
