Infants and young children under 5 years are especially at risk in the bathtub. From 2011-2015, 100% of drowning deaths among infants under a year old occurred in a bathtub. #DrowningPrevention #NDPW2019

Did you know? The age groups with the highest risk of drowning are young adults 20-34 years of age, baby boomers 50-64 years of age and seniors over 65. Children under the age of 5 are also at risk. #DrowningIsPreventable #DrowningPrevention #NDPW2019

Today is the first day of the Lifesaving Society's National Drowning Prevention Week. #NDPW runs from July 21st-July 27th 2019.

@halifaxbecky Hello there, Queensland Beach will have continued supervision from September 1 to 3 for Labour Day weekend.

Lifeguard supervision is closed for 21 of the 23 beaches supervised by the Nova Scotia Lifeguard Service. Lake Milo and Aylesford Lake beaches will be supervised until Labour Day, Sept. 3.

Supervision will continue at Lawrencetown beach on weekends of Sept. 8-9 and 15-16 only.

The following sites will be re-opened for supervision on Labour Day Weekend from from Sept. 1-3 from 10am- 6 p.m. Rainbow Haven, Lawrencetown, Martinique and Queensland beaches, Halifax County Melmerby Beach, Pictou County Dominion Beach, Cape Breton County

Water quality results for Port Maitland and Mavillette Beach came back poor. The beaches will remain closed for swimming.
