🚧Construction Update🚧 Work on the visitor center is progressing nicely! The clock tower has been poured, and the high roof beams have been installed. Framing the structure will continue over the next several weeks.

Today we introduce you to the museum's Railroad Restoration Specialist, Braden Brickman. Braden began volunteering at the museum at the age of 10 and later began his career working for railroad contractors and the V&T Railroad. He was hired full-time by the museum in 2023.

A reminder that there are no train rides this weekend. Rides resume on Saturday, August 16.

Today we introduce you to our Administrative Assistant, Tiane Marie. Tiane is a Nevada native and holds dual masters in History and Marketing. Tiane has authored two books on the history of Boulder City and worked in museums throughout southern Nevada before joining us in 2024.

🚧Construction Update🚧 What a difference a couple weeks make! Framing of the visitor center is well underway! Framing will continue through the month, with work on the lower roof beginning in early August.

@o2bcd8ed Our historic locomotives are also all steel and no roof. Given that our operating crews are primarily volunteers, however, we opt to look out for their wellbeing in summer.

@nsrmbc Ha. Try working in a USPS truck every day.. All steel, no AC.

Why doesn't the museum operate trains in summer? As this photo shows, temperatures in the cab of our historic locomotives average 30-40 degrees hotter than the outside air temperature making it unsafe to operate through much of July and August.

Dr. Christopher MacMahon is a Navy veteran who began his museum career as a youth volunteer at NSRM Carson City. Christopher obtained a Doctorate in History at UCSB. He has worked at museums in CA, NV, and NM and also teaches history at CSN. He enjoys hiking and baseball.

🚧Construction Update🚧 Crews have begun erecting steel beams for the visitor center. Steel framing will continue through the month.

Preservation is at the core of our mission and is prioritized above everything else we do. This inspection sticker notes the last official inspection dining car 4813 received while in service for Union Pacific in 1971 and is preserved in the car's electrical box.

State Public Works is now accepting bids for accessibility upgrades at the museum. Interested contractors can bid on the State Public Works Division website.
