Dead and alive. Former or current. Present or past. Not a single Nigerian former governor, presidential aspirant, or polictian can call out the EFCC for a wrong doing and remain free the next day. I Stan, re-Stan, and AfghaniStan you sir. Nigeria will be OK Insha Allah.
Peter Obi@PeterObi

Teargas in a Hospital, a Thoughtless Act. I have just read the recent troubling reports of how the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) allegedly stormed the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital in a bid to arrest Professor Eyo Ekpe, a professor of cardiothoracic surgery and deputy chairman of the hospital’s medical advisory committee. While I understand and respect the fact that the EFCC, and indeed, all other government agencies have their constitutional rights to do their jobs without interference, the manner in which some of these jobs are carried out is often deeply troubling. Reportedly, the EFCC operatives who stormed the hospital shot some teargas canisters within the hospital premises which sent medical staff and patients running for safety. This thoughtless act greatly compromised the general safety in the hospital environment and further jeopardised the health of the medical personnel and the sick people in the hospital. I have always said that the most fundamental intangible asset upon which any nation functions effectively is the rule of law and order. The disorderliness allegedly demonstrated by the EFCC operatives at the hospital must not be encouraged. Nothing justifies the use of teargas canisters in a fragile hospital environment. Do we not realise that our hospitals are part of our most critical contributors to development? We must also learn to respect the lives and dignity of our citizens. If a Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery is arrested in such a demeaning manner in a hospital environment, what signals are we sending to other medical professionals working hard to keep our health sector afloat? It is reported that Nigeria has only 80 cardiothoracic surgeons serving its 230 million people, and the Prof Eyo Ekpe is the only one in Akwa Ibom State. Let us learn to do better. Let us condemn and eschew the rascality and disorderliness that have continued to characterise some of our public offices and bring in civility in the discharge of our duties. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

Great Oracle Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary.
Thanks. I don't need to explain my professional work to anyone. But, you centred it here. In 2019, I appeared for INEC in Kaduna even when I was publicly opposed to its leadership.
Colyns@Ehys__

@trigottista @AbdulMahmud01 NDC/Obedient shud also learn to work with people they identify as competent, you will not see Yunusa Tanko or anybody in the Obidient movement being proactive in engaging potential asset People work for INEC and were complemented, what's the difference between what Oracle did?

The £5,000 Lloyds mortgage is not for everyone. It’s for renters who can afford the monthly payments but can’t save a big deposit, especially those without family help. The 10% annual overpayment allowance means some buyers will use it as a way to get in now and then pay the balance down faster.

NDC, this is bad. Really bad. How can you call yourself a people’s party when the people cannot even afford to run for office under your platform? ₦2.5 million for State House of Assembly. ₦6 million for House of Representatives. ₦8 million for Senate. ₦30 million for Governorship. ₦60 million for Presidency. This is not democracy at all, democracy is supposed to be a government by the people for the people but this one is just for the elites. This is nothing but a way to stop ordinary Nigerians from ever running for office. Because tell me, how many ordinary citizens can afford this without being sponsored by some godfather who will later want to control them? A Nigerian minimum wage worker earns ₦70,000 per month. That means the cheapest form here, State House of Assembly, is almost three years of salary if that person saves every naira and spends nothing on food, rent, transport, bills, family, or survival. For House of Reps, it is over seven years of minimum wage salary. For Senate, over nine years. For Governorship, over thirty-five years. For Presidency, over seventy-one years. What exactly are ordinary Nigerians supposed to do with this kind of system? Even in the UK, where the standard of living is far better than Nigeria’s, standing for Parliament requires a £500 deposit, and that deposit is refundable if the candidate gets at least 5% of the votes. Refundable is the key word. A UK minimum wage worker doing only 20 hours a week can earn more than that in a month. But in Nigeria, a full-time minimum wage worker cannot even afford the cheapest political form after one full year of work. So we need to ask the honest question: Why does it cost more for an ordinary Nigerian to attempt State House of Assembly than it costs someone in the UK to begin the process of contesting for Parliament? The US is different too because ballot access rules vary by state, but their major problem is campaign funding, not political parties charging people tens of millions just to buy internal party forms. This is exactly why Nigerian politics keeps recycling the same rich men, godfathers, political merchants, and sponsored candidates. You price out the ordinary citizens first, then you pretend to be shocked that the same corrupt class keeps returning to power. NDC, if you are truly a people’s party, then stop pricing the people out of politics like the other political parties are doing.

🎙OLUOMO OF DERBY 🇳🇬 🇬🇧🇬🇭 🇿🇼@Oluomoofderby

On the 9th of April, Sister Empress reached out to me on WhatsApp. She is the admin of a Nigerian women’s group in Derby with over 500 members. She informed me that we had lost a Nigerian woman and that the family was trying to raise funds. This is not the first time she has contacted me. We have attended funerals together in Derby in the past. She told me that our sister, Omotayo Abioye, had passed away and that her husband, Jide Abioye, would be setting up a GoFundMe. As is standard, only the person who creates a GoFundMe can manage or make changes to it, and in this case, it was set up by her husband. For clarity, I have never created a GoFundMe for any bereaved family. Families send me their links, and I simply help amplify them. Anyone can verify this by going through my timeline. Since 2022, I have supported over 30 GoFundMe campaigns and attended more than 25 funerals for Nigerians in the UK. When I asked how best to support, I was told the GoFundMe was already being set up. The link was later sent to me, and I shared it to help the family. It is also well known that when I post GoFundMe links, they gain traction and are often picked up by blogs, newspapers, and social media platforms. The allegations being made against me are completely false and amount to defamation. Both of us reside in the UK, where the law is clear on such matters. I have already spoken with the family involved, and they are fully aware of the truth. I will be taking legal action. GoFundMe records will clearly show who created the fundraiser and where the funds were directed. Any claims suggesting I set it up or benefited from it are baseless. If anyone believes wrongdoing has occurred, the appropriate step in the UK is to report it to the relevant authorities with evidence not to make unfounded accusations online for attention. I do not engage in back-and-forth online disputes, but I will take the proper legal steps where necessary. We will address this matter properly, and I expect all claims to be backed with evidence in a court of law. @AanuoluwapoOtez is also a close family friend with the late sister and we spoke with the family on the phone together. Enough is enough.

West Ham are set to contact referees’ body PGMOL after their late equaliser against Arsenal was disallowed. The club will raise concerns and request further explanation over the controversial decision. BBC Sport understands West Ham will also ask for the audio between referee Chris Kavanagh and VAR Darren England.
