@num435621 @AngusCampbellVI @archer_rs Yes, I used the proper name for it. The Scots didn't have to choose deeper union to avoid sanctions/embargos, just agree to drop their threat of ending the Union of the Crowns/status quo.
Four sources saying the same below. One a Scottish nationalist.
x.com/_Northerner__/…
Phil@_Northerner__
@Real_Nanu @Elizabeth_eno2 'if Scotland did not *either* settle the succession or negotiate a union' scottishhistorysociety.com/popular-opposi… 'Unless Scotland accepted the same succession .. Scots (except those in the forces or resident in England) would be treated as aliens' euppublishing.com/doi/pdf/10.336… x.com/_Northerner__/…
English

@_Northerner__ @AngusCampbellVI @archer_rs Are we talking about two different acts ?I'm talking The Alien Act 1705 which came after the Act of Security in 1704..
English

@num435621 @AngusCampbellVI @archer_rs It responded to the Act of Security 1704 - after the deeper union talks of 1702/3 failed, the Scots demanded the benefits of deeper union, without deeper union. The English basically gave 3 choices, maintain 1603 union/status quo since 1660, or deeper union, or no union at all.
English

@AngusCampbellVI @archer_rs Your name calling & deflection on certain subjects when ask specific questions in previous comments speaks volume to me..I shan't lower myself to such tatics & merely wanted to understand where u where coming from? I"II learned enough.
English

@num435621 @archer_rs It's in reference tae a Burns poem ya fud. It just means the threat fae France ya jakey wee bam.
English

@_Northerner__ @AngusCampbellVI @archer_rs From the Perspective of Scotland this Act 0f 1705 had severe consequences for them if not agreed upon.
English

@num435621 @AngusCampbellVI @archer_rs You mean the 1705 'Act for the effectual securing of England from dangers that may arise from Acts lately passed in Scotland', which popular myth says insisted on deeper union, but in reality only insisted that the Scots drop their threat of ending the 1603 Union of the Crowns.
English

@AngusCampbellVI @archer_rs Really the Gaul invasion??Gauls were ancient Celtic peoples who inhabited Western Europe 5th century BC until they were conquered by Rome and merged into Roman culture by the 5th century AD..we are talking about the 18th century here?(1707)..I think we shall leave it at that..
English

@num435621 @archer_rs We joined our Protestant brothers in England and Wales because we needed tae unit against the haughty Gaul invasion threat!
English

@AngusCampbellVI @archer_rs You know there's truth in what I'm saying. Why did ur ancestors fight so hard for their freedoms if thats the case.I never said u were a colony with no equal rights?I merely stated that Scotland only joined the Union due to dire circumstances & potenial consequences.
English

@num435621 @archer_rs Scotland is not a colony of England ya daft wee bam. We've always had exactly the same rights as the English ya fud
English

@AngusCampbellVI @archer_rs Lets be honest, it was primarily driven by Scotland's dire financial straits following the failed Darien Scheme with the promise of economic stability. Also,in 1705 the English Parliament threatened to treat Scots as aliens that in & of itself was the reason for union..
English

@num435621 @archer_rs They wanted our King so we had the same King. We then voluntarily voted tae join wae England and Wales because it made sense with us all being on the same Protestant island tae come together as one country.
English

@AngusCampbellVI @archer_rs Need you forget, for five centuries spanning from the late 13th century (1296) to the mid-17th (1650s) England invaded Scotland.Sadly, you's gave in(Act of Union 1707)Before that what of all ur brave ancestors that died? Very like the Irish they wanted freedom from British Rule?
English

@num435621 @archer_rs It was Scots who planted Ulster primarily, not English, and we did so tae civilise them. They are ungrateful tae us however.
English

@AngusCampbellVI @archer_rs Yet Churchill himself wanted the Irish to become English?
"We have always found the Irish a bit odd. They refuse to be English” – Churchill
Why would the English not let the Irish ppl be at peace in their own land.?
English

@num435621 @archer_rs Excuse me if I don't care for people who openly hate my king and country. They are taigs and they are vermin. FTP
English

@AngusCampbellVI @archer_rs I beg to differ in your low viewpoint of the Irish.I've met many an Irish person each has their own quality & sense of decency..the name calling
& ad hominem attacks on them as a people reflects badly on you & your personal bias..As they would say in Ireland "Dún do bhéal"
English

@archer_rs Irish people are not basically English. English people in my experience are decent, loyal, patriotic and honourable. Irish people meanwhile are indolent, licentious, ignorant and superstitious. They are the vermin of these isles. FTP.

@S_R_N_2905 @Fathers_Diary Thats a very definite answer to a very profound & complexed argument.Yes orientation can be natural. However, sexually confusion in some young ppl going through puberty is very real. They can latch on to certain orientations because most importantly they "feel" special.
English

@num435621 @Fathers_Diary Biological differences between men and women are real. But sexual orientation isn’t something people can “teach” or train into someone. Major psychological and medical research shows orientation develops naturally. healthy relationships makes sense but dictating orientation ?😂
