@StueyW1986 Sorry we didn’t see enough last season. What makes you think he will suddenly recover form. Also I think that had we used his wages for a RW and played Sega in 10 where he belongs we would have had a much better season. I say that jn hindsight as I was very excited to sign him.

Boro could have refused to play 1st leg. Boro could have refused to play 2nd leg. Now they cry about it by releasing that pathetic statement. They were also the ones to leak the pic & name. What we did was wrong, but Boro have shown less decency. #Saintsfc #Boro

@SaintRob__ The hypocrisy of the cheats calling out the victim for putting out a completely fair statement. The saying is ‘Cheats never prosper’ is on the EFL to make sure that’s true!

@Luke313131 I take your point, I would argue that it’s incredibly rare for a player to rest the sort of decline we have seen from Chaplin last season. Had we spent his wages on a RW, we would have had Sega and Swift in their strongest position all season and more threat from that wing.

There's no right or wrong on the Conor Chaplin debate, he's had a poor season. Personally, I'm in the take him back camp, especially on a free. He may be a high earner but if we're willing to take gambles on players like Knight, Le Roux, Matthews, Farrell and many more then Chaplin, who we know can play at this level, is easily worth a gamble on. #Pompey

This is why it’s such an vital contest. We talk about existential moments in politics. But this really is one. If Labour were to lose here that really is the end. There would be no route forward for the party in its current form.
Jessica Elgot@jessicaelgot

If Labour can’t win Makerfield with Andy Burnham as the candidate, everyone in the party should start packing up now. It’s a much more important proof of concept than running in Rusholme or Withington, which (with the best will in the world) wouldn’t prove very much at all.

Not a message I wanted too have to put out but here we go… Over the “spygate” era I have been personally attacked and targeted by #Boro fans and I think enough is enough I will be taking a break due to suicidal thoughts. abuse isn’t okay. I’ll bounce back though ❤️ #SaintsFC

@papp_cs @AlfieHouseEcho @SFCMart Every chance. Their rule is B.15 covers it. Every club should behave in The utmost good faith to each other. Although it would probably be worse to have it waiting for when you do down again.

Yet to see someone across this subject who isn’t personally invested or understandably emotional back the idea of Saints being expelled from the competition altogether. Hefty fine and points docked, as said from the start, seems to be general consensus. #SaintsFC
slbsn@slbsn

🚨🤓 Southampton Spygate personal view: 1. Expect the breaches will be straightforward to establish (ie liability) and almost certainly admitted to try and get some sanction credit/discount 2. Expect aggravating factors such as other examples of Soton spying this year to be raised 3. Fundamental question of how serious a breach of rule 127 and good faith is will be key. We know good faith alone was £200k in the Leeds case. The new rule makes it worse and spying obviously seeks a sporting advantage - why else do it? So that does point to sporting sanction of some sort 4. Being thrown out of the Play Offs appears excessive especially given Southampton finished 7 points clear of 6th and 9 clear of 7th 5. A 3-0 in the first leg would have been an option again excessive retrospectively unless 2nd leg re-playable (not feasible) 6. More likely sanction is points deduction next season in the Championship as much as that won't help Middlesboro 7. Unlikely that the PL will take a points deduction recommendation from the EFL (no fixed rule) - doubt EFL will push for it, so would apply in first season back in Championship (when and if) 8. My best guess is SIX EFL points in first season in EFL and £500k-£1m fine 9. Boro compensation claim can be dealt with separately subject to any claim brought by Boro - difficult claim to establish due to causation issues

@plusone14099137 @MillwallDan85 There was no rule in place then, also the match was less important. Therefore the punishment should be more severe. Needs to set a proper example.

Generally speaking, Boro and Hull fans think Southampton should be penalised (you wonder why), as do Portsmouth fans (obviously), and the rest of the world sees it as a massive nothingburger (which is it). #Spygate

@St_Burridge Can you really be that thick that you cannot see the difference. A points deduction in that instance would have the desired impact on the current season, the only thing that can now impact SFC is disqualification. Therefore that is the fairest solution as benefits the victim.

What happens if a mid table team does it half way through the season, do they get kicked out the league, no, they’ll get a fine and potential points deduction.. we’ll get the same #saintsfc

@Josh_b222 The article from the Echo today suggests it's unlikely, obviously we don't know for sure. My assumption is a points deduction (not sure if it's able to be applied in the Premier League should we go up or not) and a massive fine.

@StuartJones7 Because that close to the game, its first 11, how they will line up for set pieces, how the press will set up. The coaches will be trying to come up with something new, and it’s been filmed and transmitted back so that is negated. This is more than a marginal gain. #kickthemout

Well done #boro comms team convincing half the world that a nerd behind a tree 200m away can have a big impact on 210 minutes of football. 🤪 Same as us using our Academy U18 players and ball boys then not giving the ball back. Small margins - not £200m fines 😂🕵️. #SaintsFC

@jonnyblundra @RobinNestBCFC And time, if I was him the sacking of Struber would be a massive red flag. Other clubs would have fired him numerous times in the last 2 seasons. Pompey stuck with it and reaped the rewards.

@RobinNestBCFC I suspect it is going to be a double announcement of SD and manager. Still not sure it will be Mousinho, big decision to leave Pompey, he would have to be assured he has the backing and budget to do well at City. We will see. Big decision for him.

@FlynnJonas2 1990 Swindon won play offs, but were stripped of it and Sunderland went up in their place so there is precedent. However arguably Hull aren’t the wrong party so doesn’t recompense Boro. Wait for final is delayed a week announcement.
