Someone asked me last week why I haven't done any Metroid interviews for a while, I am basically on an indefinite hiatus for three main reasons. 1. Unfortunately I have become intrinsically intertwined with Metroid to the point that if I speak about it 90% of the time it turns into a headline, even opinions and it often gets taken out of context and I get personal attacks which leads to the next point. 2. Death Threats, I have had these multiple times and I don't even understand why. I do a charity event with Omega Metroid, I get death threats, I say Prime 4 has a $100 million dollar budget I get death threats, I say it's unlikely Nintendo will have a lone wolf Samus again, I get death threats but its the next part that was the straw that broke the camels back for me 3. Following the release of Metroid Prime 4 there were horrible things people said about Tanabe and Retro Studios which made me sick to my stomach, I understand if Prime 4 was disappointing for you, it was disappointing for me as well but I would never attack devs over it. This isnt even the first time this has happened, the same thing happened with Samus Returns and Other M. (Remember the vile hate aimed at Sakamoto) There is a sub-sect of the Metroid fandom that are extremely toxic, it's so bad I have had to remove myself from all Metroid fan pages whether its discord, facebook or reddit because I am tired of reading week in, week out about people bitching about Prime 4, Tanabe or Retro. Metroid is my favourite franchise and I feel like I no longer have a safe space where I can talk about it, in fact the only time I talk about Metroid really is with Ex Retro Studios devs. I don't have to deal with this type of toxicity with Bethesda, Naughty Dog or even Rockstar fans. I will still do a review of Metroid Prime 4 at some point but as of now I don't have much of a desire to do Metroid interviews, that may change in the future once the fandom calms down a bit.
