I am saddened to learn of the passing of my former colleague, Senator Lindsey Graham. He was full of wit, energy, and charm, and he cared deeply about the Senate and the people of South Carolina. Doug and I are sending our thoughts and our prayers to his friends and loved ones.

Lindsey Graham spent years questioning Joe Biden’s cognitive and physical health, mocking his age, and suggesting he might not make it another 4 months. Now Graham is gone. Joe Biden is still here. Sometimes life delivers the final fact-check on issues like these.

It’s not complicated. Trump doesn’t believe in democracy. He hates democratic Europe and loves the oligarchic dictatorships in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar. He wants to stifle dissent in the media and arrest his opponents. ALL Americans must unify against authoritarianism.

RIP Lindsey Graham. He served this country for 34 years and should be commended for that. I will remember him for this quote. When he was clear-eyed. When he understood the catastrophe of electing Donald Trump. Tragically, no one in the GOP listened to Lindsey. Not even Lindsey.
