@withlovefewa You were lucky cos most rejection mail comes via do-not-reply@companyname.com. So how do you intend to reply the mail to start or begging for a second chance or other opportunities. I still don't believe this happened except it's a small company though

@hsprafrique We had an argument in my office about taking salary or accepting equity. Out of 7 tech people I was the only one that said . Pay me my money. If you blow tomorrow na for your pocket. I need to upgrade my SUV Una fix they wait. What about if the coy flops . Nobody talks about that

So I almost joined this startup, Pulselogix, right? They hit me with the classic: “We can’t pay you cash… but we’ll give you equity.” I looked at the founder, nodded politely, then walked home, sat at my laptop, and built the whole app myself. 😅 Fast forward: •The app works and I am waiting for Apple to approve as I type this •I’m one of the developers who doesn’t have to explain to investors why “equity” doesn’t buy groceries. If they won’t pay you, just be the startup.
Victor@echo_vick

What’s the craziest “I’ll pay you with equity” experience you’ve ever had?

@hsprafrique You know nothing about regulators. Again you know nothing. Build the best of app. One agency can cum and run you down. There is a reason why people get certified in GRC.NDPC actually by law will come and take that 10M naira or 4% of your rev if you default in data protection

This just popped up on my timeline and all I can see is you spreading subtle fear into the minds of young ones If you can’t vibe code THEN LEARN FROM VIBE CODERS who can The Nigerian Government won’t just arrest you cuz u built a product that doesn’t meet regulations, instead you will be asked to adapt to the regulations This is 2026 not 2006 @Akintola_steve
Akintola Steve@Akintola_steve

When you build a payment system and you do not understand KYC, AML, and compliance properly, I genuinely hope you do not learn it the hard way. On KYC, the CBN framework for Nigerian financial systems is structured into three tiers: Tier 1 BVN or NIN is required. Max daily transaction: ₦50,000 Max wallet balance: ₦300,000 Tier 2 BVN + liveness or facial verification + a government-issued ID Max daily transaction: ₦200,000 Max wallet balance: ₦500,000 Tier 3 Full KYC: BVN, NIN, government ID, proof of address, plus enhanced due diligence Max daily transaction: ₦5,000,000 Unlimited wallet balance If your system does not enforce these and you ship, you are not just dealing with bugs. You are dealing with regulators. And when regulators show up, it is not a debugging session. I am putting this out there because you might be excited about building a solution, not realizing you're just preparing yourself for jail time. There is a lot to building in the fintech space. This is why I strongly advise against vibe coding a fintech product. AI tools do not keep up with regulatory updates. They will not warn you about compliance gaps. And in fintech, ignorance is not a defense.

Introducing the Agege Residents Card : A structured approach to better serve our people and deliver targeted impact. This initiative is designed to identify and register actual residents of Agege, ensuring that government interventions reach those they are meant for. With a clear classification system: 🔴 Red: Persons with disabilities 🟡 Yellow: Poor and vulnerable 🔵 Blue: General residents We are able to differentiate beneficiaries, improve planning, and deliver more effective economic empowerment programmes. The Residents Card will also provide access to welfare support, health services, drug relief funding, and other community benefits, while strengthening our data systems for better decision-making. Looking ahead, it will support initiatives like subsidised green transportation on key routes, ensuring inclusive and affordable mobility for our people. This is about structure, accountability, and making sure no one who truly needs support is left behind. #agege #avo #avoisworking #anewagegeisrising

When you build a product that collects Nigerian user data and you have never heard of NDPR, I genuinely hope you don't find out about it through a lawsuit. The Nigeria Data Protection Regulation requires: • A real privacy policy users can actually read • Explicit consent before collecting personal data • Data minimization — only collect what you need • Breach notification within 72 hours if user data is exposed • A Data Protection Officer if you process data at scale NITDA can fine you up to 2% of annual gross revenue or ₦10 million whichever is higher. Most Nigerian devs have never heard of this. They ship, collect BVNs, phone numbers, emails with zero compliance structure. NDPR is not just a big company problem. If you have users, you are responsible for their data.

@DrJoeAbah My little contribution as a none learned colleague. These are the only 3 professions you must tell the TRUTH ,The Whole TRUTH and nothing but the TRUTH. Why will you want to lie to your LAWYER? Why will you want to lie to your DOCTOR? Why will you want to lie to your PRIEST?

Should I try and explain? Do you promise to receive my explanation with civility even if you don’t agree with it? Ok here goes: There are only three learned professions: Law, Medicine and Theology. That is why when a lawyer is cross-examining a doctor or clergy from traditional churches, they do so with a measure of respect. The learned title means that the person is not just educated, they have acquired professional training and been examined in terms of knowledge AND character and found to be worthy. By that training, a learned person learns about the whole human being. That is why you can present certain symptoms to a doctor and he may ask you about work stress, diet, the home front, etc. A priest will do the same and will ask about your marriage, your children, your work, etc. he will additionally worry about the destination of your soul after you die. Similarly, a lawyer understands human nature and the duality between his ability to do good but also to do shocking evil and is confronting and navigating that in his work daily. He will worry about protecting your life and property both when you are alive and when you are dead. In each of the three professions, the person trusts you with their life, liberty or soul. Also, a learned person can be struck off if they misbehave. So, you see? Lawyers, doctors and traditional clergy are, by their training, more than just educated. That is what is different. ✌🏽
