ob's second solo exhibition, "Phantom Tales," opened to a lively reception at Perrotin New York on January 16. Prior to the opening, ob traveled to the U.S. on January 13 to oversee the installation. She also attended the opening reception on January 16, engaging in direct conversations with many visitors in front of her works and creating a vibrant, interactive atmosphere throughout the event. In conjunction with the exhibition, the poster “Drifting” has also been released at the Perrotin Store. This poster features imagery from a painting originally presented at ob’s solo exhibition at Perrotin Hong Kong last year. “Phantom Tales,” ob’s second solo exhibition in New York, will open at Perrotin New York on January 16. The exhibition features a collection of works that explore the stories people spontaneously generate within themselves, approached from multiple perspectives. On view will be twelve paintings alongside seven delicately rendered drawings. Throughout the works, the artist has intentionally embedded motifs that invite viewers to freely expand their own imaginations. The artist is scheduled to travel to New York for the opening. Kaikai Kiki Gallery is once again participating in the art fair “Asia NOW 2025,” currently taking place in Paris. This year’s presentation features the first-ever collaborative works by Mr. and Takashi Murakami, alongside new pieces by Otani Workshop, Kasing Lung, Shoko Nakazawa, and others—showcasing works by a total of 13 artists. Kaikai Kiki Gallery is pleased to present the exhibition “Animal Forest” from October 12 to October 25. Just when we thought the pandemic was over, political instability followed. Then came economic turmoil and volatility, and now the further acceleration of externalizing our brains is happening through AI… It’s hard to stay sane in times like these. Those who can spend their days with their pets are fortunate. But for those who live alone, keeping and caring for a living creature isn’t easy. So this exhibition proposes the idea of turning to animals in art as a source of comfort for your heart. Some artists have even created new works specifically for this show. Please come and see it—and perhaps meet a new partner for the next chapter of your life. The main visual for the exhibition is a new drawing by ob. Regarding this new work, ob comments: “This is a drawing of my pet dog. Until now, I have depicted how people project their emotions onto objects such as toys. But spending time with my dog, I began to feel that dogs, too, sometimes treat toys not merely as objects, but as entities that hold a certain presence within play. I drew the dog with the same feeling as when I draw human figures. Kaikai Kiki Gallery will once again participate in the art fair "Taipei Dangdai 2025," held in Taipei, Taiwan. We are pleased to present a new work by ob, created especially for this occasion. ob “On Dream’s Edge” 2025, Oil on canvas, 1303x894x60mm This piece features recurring motifs found in many of ob’s works, such as girls and bodies of water, and is characterized by soft tones of pale blue, purple, and pink spread across the canvas. Blending abstraction and figuration, the work evokes a serene and ambiguous world that seems to hover somewhere between dream and reality. The artist notes that while the work is inspired by her early pieces, it has been created in line with her current style of expression.
