@NoContextCounty And not the man they couldn't get out.... Dom Sibley has just gone past 15 hours' batting in his last two innings, and is still not out in the second of those.

@MediumPaceDobb1 I doubt that Gregory, Clark or Balderstone are anywhere near selection. A specialist batsman would probably be the solution.

At the Oval, 436 runs have so far been scored while only two wickets have fallen. #FlatPitch

@AnnieChave @HarryEverett_14 Not to detract from your excellent point, but young Thomas has actually played one FC match before this (for England Lions in Australia).

All this talk of Bethell being with world class players as he sits on the bench - Thomas Rew has his First Class debut in the company of Joe Root, Bairstow, Overton & Leach. @HarryEverett_14 What a fantastic championship game 💪🏏🙌

So then, Ollie Robinson to open the batting for England? I reserve my right to totally reverse my position on him opening the bowling for England (depending on how charitable, capricious and hungover I’m feeling tomorrow morning).

feel sorry for kids of today who will never know the buzz of watching a winger taking on his man & whipping crosses in from the bye line . The excitement of the crowd watching such battles for 90 minutes . So disappointing we've let this foreign style pish infiltrate the English game & turn it into an absolute snorefest .

@JamieMagill5 Not remotely arsed. Just have bowling machines at each end. It would have as much resemblance to cricket as this guff does.

265 gets chased down so easily in a T20. The game of cricket has changed forever today!

@bagga_buntyy Ludicrous team with no openers. Let's get one in, at least. Jack Hobbs, in place of Lara.

Honestly, situations like this are not helping. Tom Hartley essentially deemed too experienced to replace Shetty because he’s played Test cricket. So Lancs have no frontline spinner for the rest of the match and end up with a keeper-batter. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Lancashire Cricket@lancscricket

All-rounder Arav Shetty has been replaced by Wicketkeeper batter George Bell after sustaining a hand injury in the morning session. Wishing you a speedy recovery, Arav. 🙏 🌹 #RedRoseTogether

@weymarplanet I started in 1968 (Ashes series). I don't think the game is really recognisable now. I can't even get up all that much enthusiasm for England tests nowadays but I still fork out for Sky, TNT etc. T20 does nothing for me.

Genuine question: When did you actually start watching cricket? And be honest—is the game as appealing to you now as it was back then? Between the shift in formats and the change in how it’s played, what’s the biggest difference for you? Let's talk. 🏏

Morgan McSweeney is to blame for the Mandelson Debacle. Worse awaits: his destruction of the Labour left has created the conditions for the surge of the green vote and Starmer's looming electoral humiliation on May 7th. My column for Middle East Eye: middleeasteye.net/opinion/uk-how…

@WG_RumblePants @myatt_mj Duckett is out for me. He doesn't look remotely likely to score any runs in the Championship. Huge risk p;aying him in a Test. McKinney in.

Bethell Duckett Smith or Rew Root Brook Rew or Smith (wk) Stokes When you write it down, it doesn’t look bad as a top 7 🤔🤷 I’m not even convinced myself that this would be the way to go. It’s just something I’m mulling over. And, yes, I know that Bethell’s not an established opener and I do remember the failed Dan Lawrence experiment 😬 I’d counter that, however, with the fact that Lawrence isn’t even a number 3 — he’s a number 5 or 6 — and that Bethell’s probably a better batter than Lawrence and has a (gulp) “higher ceiling” 🤦 What do you reckon? Have I gone mad?

@WG_RumblePants I think this is the same line-up as the one proposed the other day by Scyld Berry in the Telegraph, except he didn't name Duckett specifically, and he went for Smith at 3, not keeping.

@RichardDeller1 We’ve been spoilt in recent (20 years) days. Some of our fans know nothing other than winning trophies regularly. Some others of us, remember losing to Stoke in the league cup final in ‘72, and disappearing into the doldrums for 25 years! That, my friends is the low point! UTC💙

The Olly Robbins @CommonsForeign was as I remember him from govt: formidable intellect;on top of detail; utterly committed to an ethic of public service & duty of officials to deliver what elected ministers want. His treatment by this govt is scandalous.
