Never thought I’d ever see the day the EU parliament chanted “Send them back”. Europe has reached a clear turning point on migration. Public frustration with illegal immigration and failed deportations has now translated into decisive political action.

🔸Nobody hates South Africa. Everybody hates xenophobia. If hate watching a mere soccer match causes this much hurt, imagine the hurt that comes with watching your compatriots being treated inhumanely because of their nationality or the colour of their skin in another African nation? What we have observed over the last few days is that that hurt can’t be switched off just because a soccer match is on. People carry it within their souls. Hearts bleed. So the aggrieved will protest in solidarity with those who are being attacked in an effort to make a statement. This is sometimes the only way people have to express how pained they are by the inhumanity they’re witnessing on African soil. We never ever saw Nelson Mandela throwing stones at Kwame Nkrumah, Samora Machel and Julius Nyerere so what is this now? We need new leaders.🇿🇼
