Saw a girl at a Noida Metro station today, dressed in a sharp corporate blazer, crying silently while eating a samosa. Her phone lit up: "Maa Calling." She wiped her tears, smiled, and picked up: "Yes, Mom, there's a party going on at the office." Success is expensive.

Two of my college friends just moved back to India from Germany. Between them, almost a decade in AI/ML. One worked in cancer research. Building ML pipelines for tumor classification. They came back to take care of their parents. Now Indian companies interviewing are asking them to write code on notepad. Notepad. In 2026. For people who are working on AI models that detect cancer. If anyone has openings in tech/AI/ML, their LinkedIn profiles below. Any lead would mean a lot.

I was driving down the road in New Delhi today on my way to see the India Gate, and I saw this monkey on the sidewalk eating flowers next to a pack of monkeys. Is this not the cutest thing ever? India is awesome. 🇮🇳

Last night in Delhi NCR, my friend lost her purse, phone and cash gone. She just needed ₹100 to get back to her flat. She asked 3–4 shopkeepers for help. they said, “Sleep with me for an hour and I’ll give ₹1000.” Is this what we’ve become? No humanity left, only exploitation.

Let me reintroduce myself on X I'm Narayani Gurunathan. Recruiter. Survivor. Maker of strong filter coffee and stronger hiring decisions. Twenty years in recruitment. Bangalore roots, Chennai resident, pan-India mileage. I have hired a tech support person for Aasansol :) I've hired for startups that ran on dreams. I've hired for CMMi Level 5 companies where the interview process had more stages than you could keep track of. I've hired machinists for factories in Ambernath where the salary expectation and the actual budget were separated by forty thousand rupees. Partnered in an agency partnership for 15 years. Exited it. I ran a contract staffing firm for 6 years. Built it, loved it, shut it down. Some doors you walk out of. Some doors walk out on you. Either way, you end up outside, and you figure out the next move. The most honest thing I can tell you about twenty years in this business of hiring and helping clients find talent? The job description is never the whole story. The candidate is never exactly what they seem. And someone, somewhere, has listed "excellent communication skills" on their CV and is currently not responding to their third follow-up email. I've seen it all. I'll tell you about most of it.

On 8 February 2026, at an event in Mumbai, RSS Chief Mr. Mohan Bhagwat made a statement to the effect that insisting on language and occasionally agitating for it is a kind of disease. Several dignitaries from different fields were invited to this event, and some of them actually attended. But I would like to tell Mohanrao Bhagwat clearly: They did not attend out of affection for you; they did so out of their fear of Narendra Modi’s government. Otherwise, why nobody ever attended such dull and boring sermons before? So first, please come out of the misconception that they came there for you. Anyway… Firstly, we assume Mr. Bhagwat surely knows the history of why reorganization of the states along linguistic lines became a necessity in this country. If love for one’s language and one’s region seem like a disease to Mr. Bhagwat, then we would like to point out that this ‘disease’ is rampant across majority of the states in this country. From Karnataka to Tamil Nadu in the South, there are strong linguistic and provincial identities. The same sentiment exists in West Bengal, Punjab, and even Gujarat. Has Mr. Bhagwat tried to understand what this sentiment really is? When large groups from four or five states migrate en masse to other states, behave arrogantly there, reject the local culture, insult the local language, and create their own vote banks, resentment builds among the local people, leading to eruptions. You call this a disease? And if this is a disease, as you say, then it has spread to Gujarat as well. When thousands of people from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar were chased out of Gujarat, why didn’t you go there to give lessons on harmony? Why didn’t you give the same lessons in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, or West Bengal? It is not because the Marathi people are tolerant, but because the rulers here are spineless, that Mr. Bhagwat dares to speak this way. A few months ago, just before elections, Bhaiyyaji Joshi provoked the Marathi people by saying that Mumbai’s language is not only Marathi but also Gujarati, attempting to woo Gujarati speakers. All this was done to see how the BJP could benefit indirectly. Why should the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh—which calls itself a non-political organization—get involved in such matters in the first place? We have respect for the work of the Sangh, but that does not mean it should indulge in taking indirect political stance. And if you insist on doing so, then first show the courage to reprimand the government for imposing Hindi across the country (which, incidentally, is not even the national language), and only then lecture us on harmony. And do not try to force-fit ‘Hindutva’ in all this. I have said this many times: If Hindus get attacked, we will retaliate as Hindus. It was the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena that took out a march against the riots instigated by the Raza Academy, that agitated against loudspeakers on mosques, and that took a stand against the nuisance caused to citizens by loud DJs and loudspeakers during Hindu festivals as well. What is wrong is wrong—we say it plainly. When will you, Mohanrao? There’s chaos unfolding across the country in the name of Hindutva—when will you speak about it? The grotesque manner in which women are made to dance during Kanwar Yatras in North India, the fact that India ranked 9th in beef exports in 2014, but is now ranked 2nd, and the spectacle of politics around cow slaughter that is being staged within the country, provoking communal frenzy—when will you speak about all this? When will you take the government to task over those traders? Anyway, what you choose to do is up to you. For us, the Marathi language and the Marathi people are the ultimate and supreme priority. Linguistic and regional identities will continue to exist in this country, and they will certainly continue to exist in Maharashtra as well. This is our ‘raison d'etre’, and whenever such situations arise, Maharashtra will rise with fury. Raj Thackeray

BIG BREAKING: PCB has now reached out to ICC for a dialogue on the India-Pakistan World Cup after the ICC replied to their official communication: PCB first wrote to ICC saying they were pulling out of that game implying the ‘Force Majeure’, attaching their Govt’s tweet. The ICC then wrote back, asking what factors under ‘Force Majeure’ were they trying to imply, and telling PCB of legal ramifications and sanctions the ICC could hit them with. The PCB has now approached ICC for a dialogue to “resolve” the issue Watch this space for details
