@Snakesan @ChristianityOn "Have you heard about anyone in your circle discussing the harder aspects of autism, at all?" Really?? My god the hubris in this question. And what it says about the attitude, ideology, mindset of the questioner. 1/

@Snakesan @ChristianityOn I think this ranks as the most toxic, insulting, vile diatribe I’ve ever been subjected to on twitter, all of it based in a wild, presumptuous fantasy of what kind of life I’ve led as a multiply neurodivergent person. But it does serve as the perfect illustration of my points.🤣

I'm seeing a lot of negation of autistic voices - describing their experiences - by autistics who've inhaled older, dated, deficit-based models. They assume authority over the topic & mock anyone who doesn't experience autism in a way that conforms to their conventionality.

I'm going to take a walk in the rain. I won't let a little rain stop me, and there are less people out and about. More private and quiet. I love it!

My account is definitely shadow-banned to a degree. I mean, the difference is obvious. Easy to forget though, since it was a long time ago (before Musk) that I used to get so much more interaction. So why do I stay? This is ridiculous.

@MyrtaMyr In my case, I've had my account suddenly open back up and get far more views, then shut down again just as suddenly. This has happened at least twice. I really do think algorithms are designed to push down accounts, probably on a wide scale. Look at this:

I think I really need to shift social media environments. I'm not compatible with this place. I seem to be one of the few still here who see how different it is now since Musk took over. So many of my mutuals are not here anymore. Gotta find a way to break the habit.

@DrAnnieHickox Thank you. I've gone for months at a time before. I usually check in from time to time even if I stay away.

@ChristianityOn For autistics, who often experience a lifetime of constant invalidations and being told they're "wrong" beginning in early childhood, it's quite something that an autistic group has adopted this approach: spending their days berating other autistics for how wrong they are.

@ChristianityOn This criticism is about tactics. Ppl are entitled to opinions, & will quote tweet with a criticism now & then, but this group does it constantly, huddling in their little corner making smug, snide personal comments about autistic ppl whose views aren't in line with theirs.

Yes "Sometimes it’s the ability to spot patterns that others miss. Sometimes it’s a deep sense of responsibility or focus. Often, it’s a different way of processing problems – not better or worse, just unexpected. These contributions don’t emerge in spite of neurodivergence..."

@Tcho76521726 A pattern of clinging to older models to the exclusion of new information reveals an ideological preference. When there is a lack of openness to new information, a lack of breadth of perspective, it reveals a conservative mindset. I see that you follow these ppl/this group.

@obrerx The implication is that the older models were rejected because they have less explanatory power than the newer ones?

@Tcho76521726 In science, ignoring later, newer developments that add information or advance understanding in preference for older conceptual models is an indication of conservatism.

@obrerx Are newer ideas better by virtue of being newer? Why do you use "older" as a pejorative?
