@COHillbilly21 @Cernovich Why can’t they be underground - even the the sub basements of new high rises? Or in multi story buildings to drastically reduce their footprint?

@Cernovich There are literal dozens of abandoned factories, warehouses and the like that could be refurbished into data centers. We don't need acres of farmland and natural beauty to be permanently scarred so people can ask Claude what the weather is.

Big tech has a generational opportunity to rebuild the Rust Belt. Put data centers in Detroit and Gary Indiana. Keep those things off of our farmland and beautiful open spaces. If “we” are at war with China, then rebuild and reindustrialize. Otherwise we know it’s a dark plot.

@Tennessean What did businesses and residents expect? 12 South was never intended to be a commercial district. It’s a 1 lane road in each direction. Everyone knew and now they face the consequences.

More than 300 Nashville small businesses have joined a coalition demanding property tax relief as Metro considers possible incentives for Starbucks to expand operations in the city. Business owners say rising tax bills are pushing some longtime restaurants and shops to the brink. City leaders say no final decision has been made on incentives. @Tennessean With all the new hotels added each year, sales taxes and property taxes collections skyrocket, yet our property taxes continue to increase 10% each year. Waste? Fraud? Nashville is in trouble.

@FOXNashville This is like his 1/2 cent grocery tax reduction after raising sales tax 1% on all goods, not just groceries. He’s a charlatan.

More than 300 Nashville business owners say rising property taxes are pushing some local companies to the brink. Members of the Nashville Property Tax Coalition warn more than 100 businesses could fail within the next two years without relief. Owners say they’ve survived inflation, labor shortages and economic uncertainty, but now fear historic tax increases could force difficult decisions about staffing, pricing and even staying open. Metro leaders say businesses, like the city itself, may need to absorb rising costs. Meanwhile, Mayor Freddie O’Connell is proposing a property tax relief fund that could offer up to $50,000 to qualifying legacy businesses. bit.ly/4ty3J8S #Nashville #PropertyTax #SmallBusiness

Over the weekend, online reports suggested that Achilles might be played by trans actor Elliot Page in the new film adaptation of The Odyssey. The idea isn't as outrageous as it seems, writes @SpencerKlavan 👇 buff.ly/87KaLFb

@WatchChad Well, Jessie (of Mergin, Purgin and Submergin fame) is gone and Al is a corpse, so we’re in need of a race hustler. Time to start shaking down businesses for the new rainbow coalition.

Fun fact: The last time Tennessee Democrats controlled redistricting they enacted this map that connected Shelby County with Williamson, Davidson, and Montgomery counties. Of Note: Congressman Cohen was state Senator Cohen (D) at the time.

Steve Cohen@RepCohen

This is insane. The GOP's newly proposed TN Congressional maps would have people in Shelby County all the way to Williamson County—200+ miles apart—being "represented" by the same Congressman. It's a blatant, corrupt power grab that would destroy the Black community's and our entire city's voice.

@FOXNashville He’s cutting 1/2 of 1% from the tax! Families are estimated to save &72 per year. And you’d think he’s trying to get some fiscal conservative man of the year. Spare us.

FOX 17 News spoke with Nashville Mayor Freddie O'Connell today at the Growing Nashville Town Hall special about the grocery sales tax reduction. When asked about the proposal, O'Connell says that "We are asking Metro departments to spend a little less.. it helps everyone across the board. That $72 goes a long way." bit.ly/4dtircj

I have paid over $10B in taxes in a single year, more than anyone in history. If I exercise and sell stock options, the combined federal and state income tax is ~45% (I still pay California taxes for every day I spend there). Then there is another 40% tax paid on my estate when I die. Overall, I will probably end up paying trillions in taxes.

This is the most consequential development in Nashville. A free, efficient transportation system that is hated by our mayor and city council. But the free market is embracing it. Elon is a threat to the ever raising taxes to expand a traffic inducing empty-bus system that is emlatic of the city’s accelerating failure.
