@CityofAtwater Mayor Paul Creighton verbally attacked a street vendor and community members. His affiliation to proud boys & white supremacists has resulted in city policies that hurt BIPOC communities.

Our commitment to Black life, Black joy, and Black liberation must be constant, explicit, and unequivocal. Say it, know it, practice it.

As we said last summer, Central Valley Mutual Aid & Collective Care Network stands in solidarity for Black liberation. We are fully in solidarity with the protests and uprisings happening in our Central Valley, all over the United States, and globally.⁣

As we sit with the news that Derek Chauvin has been found guilty of murdering George Floyd we are holding the family of George Floyd in our hearts and wishing them peace, rest and healing. As we many have already stated, we recognize that this was never about one cop.

I think a lot of folks are misusing “accountability” right now. Accountability relates to community restoration and justice achieved through mutual agreements and commitments to growth. One cannot hold murderous systems of oppression “accountable.” We can only abolish them.
