If Keir Starmer goes, Britain will end up with someone much worse. I think it’s probably what needs to happen so people realise that socialism sucks. Maybe it has to get worse before it can get better.

Do your worst. I was interviewed for GB News last week across a broad range of Brexit and EU related topics, and the interview went up on YouTube earlier this afternoon. Enjoy! youtu.be/VrqR7lPJtyc?si…

UPDATE: Cooper did go speak to PM this eve - as did Mahmood & Healey. But I’m told Cooper did not urge PM to set out timetable - what she did discuss, she is keeping private. I understand there is frustration among some Cabinet ministers at what they see as the misrepresentation of their private conversations with PM - it’s been a very fraught day, with a possible cabinet showdown in the morning

NEW: Where is No 10 at tonight? Tune into @skynews now. PM and team trying to understand where party at to try to form a view - Shabana Mahmood and Yvette Copper telling Starmer they want him to set out a timetable - Other cabinet ministers - Steve Reed and Pat McFadden - saying the PM should fight on - David Lammy and Jonathan Reynolds have been by the PM's side in No 10 tonight weighing up the options about what the PM should do. Am told Lammy doesn't want the PM to stand down. One cabinet minister laments to me that what is happening is disorderly. "I think Labour Party that is about to put itself out of power for serious period of time by repeating the mistakes of the Tories And Keir Starmer? I am told that tonight, ahead of a cabinet meeting om Tues, he's weighing up his options

Trump’s State Department is refusing to sign up to the UN’s Migration Compact. They will not allow “replacement migration” for the United States or Western nations.
Department of State@StateDept

Last week, the United States refused to participate in the UN’s review of the Global Compact on Migration. The United States objects to the Global Compact on Migration and UN efforts to facilitate replacement migration to the United States and our Western allies.

I despair. Same old tired anti-Brexit lines that didn't work in 2016 or 2019 and won't work now. He's still the same Shadow Brexit Secretary who crafted Labour's toxic 2nd referendum policy. No lessons learned. Make the argument for sovereignty to deliver a new economic agenda!

Rejoining the EU will not in and of itself increase economic growth in the UK, just as leaving the EU did not reduce it. Brexit was largely a macroeconomic non-event. This could be different if the UK were to rejoin the EU with a positive agenda for growth and deregulation, and about strengthening the EU’s role in the world. I am not holding my breath here. Remain was a scare campaign in 2016. What I have seen from Rejoin advocates so far is essentially a version of the same. eurointelligence.com

As someone who voted Remain I genuinely see the prospect of rejoining the EU as a distraction and aversion to laying out domestic policy levers that are more capable of driving economic growth Also have no wish to engage in an exercise that would tear the country apart (again)

Would be nice to think that what finally did for Starmer was his belief that the solution to any problem is "more Europe"... 🤷‍♂️
