I just watched Kuihman’s video on the Deme drama and he was right about a lot of things, but he still gave too much credit to Chibi and his side. Kuihman was correct that a huge portion of the backlash was completely unhinged and delusional. The way people ran with the “she’s having sex on stream” narrative was creepy, gross, and based on heavily edited clips with zero real evidence. He was also right that Chibi and his cult took Deme’s boundary post as a challenge instead of just respecting it. That’s weird, entitled behavior. Where Kuihman fell short is that he still framed Deme like she went too far. She didn’t. Chibi came at her first by calling her a virtue signaler and refusing to respect her boundary about not wanting full NSFW art of her model. Deme responded by putting him in his place. That’s not going too far that’s matching energy after someone tried to publicly embarrass her. Chibi is the one who started this entire mess. He’s spent years being a toxic grifter, posted racist memes, made transphobic comments, and weaponizes his own trauma while attacking other people. Deme was completely justified in calling him out the way she did. Her apology was mature. She addressed the situation without completely backing down or pretending Chibi was some innocent victim. That’s the correct way to handle it. She doesn’t owe him more than that. Kuihman was right that a lot of people lost their minds during this drama and became obsessed with proving Deme did something wrong. But Deme wasn’t wrong for defending herself. Chibi was wrong for starting it, and his cult was wrong for turning it into a harassment campaign. Deme stood her ground. That’s it.

THE VTUBER WHO JUST WANTED HER BOUNDARIES RESPECTED Personally this is how I see it VTuber named Deme publicly asked people to stop sending her explicitly pornographic illustrations of her character. She didn’t ban all lewd art she only drew the line at non consensual explicit porn. Instead of respecting a completely reasonable boundary that any creator has the right to set, large parts of the community (heavily pushed by Chibi) attacked her, calling her a hypocrite because her model has a sexy design and she shares sensual art. They completely ignored the difference between enjoying attractive aesthetics and wanting non consensual porn made of you. Her response was clear and fair: “Enjoying attractive aesthetics doesn’t mean wanting to see explicit interpretations of that type.” Far from respecting her limits, the community flooded her with even more unwanted explicit art and launched a coordinated smear campaign filled with edited clips, false “sex on stream” claims, and personal attacks. This isn’t the “Streisand Effect.” It’s what happens when a toxic mob decides to punish a woman for setting a basic boundary. Deme simply asked for respect. The people who refused to give it are the ones who started and escalated the drama.
