When you finally realize it’s not about cutting off sin it’s about loving God so much that your desire to sin no longer exists.

Most people read James 4:7 backwards. They try to resist the devil first, straining through temptation on willpower alone, rebuking, declaring and then wonder why it isn’t working. But James gives you a sequence, not just a command. Submit to God. Resist the devil. He will flee. The resistance is downstream of the submission. You’re not fighting your way into God’s presence. You’re submitting your way into spiritual authority. The power to resist isn’t yours to generate, it’s yours to receive. And you receive it through surrender, not strength. What that means practically is that the devil doesn’t flee a great warrior. He flees a submitted person. Because a submitted person has given him nothing to grab onto. Pride is his leverage. Self-sufficiency is his entry point. The moment you genuinely yield, not just say you yield, but yield, you’ve removed the very ground he was standing on. James 4:6 tells you why: “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” The humble don’t just get help. They get grace. And grace is a force the devil cannot match. So if you’re losing the battle, go back to the beginning of the verse. Submission first. Always submission first. Everything else flows from there.

Christianity is not a cross necklace, scripture tattoo, ashes on your forehead, and a verse in your bio. It's seeking after God's heart. Dying to your flesh. Not fitting in a world full of sin. It's trusting in Jesus to save you not your own deeds. Its living for Jesus.

The Bible is so clear on how important it is to never LOOK BACK. Not at an old position, an old ex, an old friendship, or even old ways that God has brought you out of. There are many people in the Bible but in clear words, God tells us to "remember Lot's wife"; who turned into a pillar of salt! Stuck in time. I pray that when you're tempted to "go back", He reminds you that you have so much to look forward to.
