@KermitWog11757 @tak05555 I wouldn't be sooo sure about Valve's Steam, but GOG definitely does treat them better. It's not that Valve isn't great, but not so great due to some issues reported by some indie studios.

The second Japanner pinhead within 24 hours who thinks I should shut-up for exposing their dirty slave labour manga studio industry. Manga is being produced at an increasing rate thanks to the low cost barrier of entry. "Muh piracy" was never the issue. Market control is.

@KermitWog11757 @tak05555 If we don't change things drastically, it's gonna always be hard for artists to make a living. Not everyone strikes a hit consistently. And there's also niche audiences... Not an easy solution, but definitely it won't help all this vilification of piracy.

@KermitWog11757 @tak05555 Also, supporting creators is morally desirable and we should strive for that. Culture is to be made as universally accessible as possible while we've got to pay authors to keep creating. I'm no fan of exploitative business, but I must tell you capitalism is based on exploit.

@KermitWog11757 @tak05555 Pirataria não é roubo porque roubo implica em subtração de produtos e um prejuízo material palpável. Cópias não autorizadas não subtraem nada da empresa. Ela não recebe pela cópia ilegal, mas ela não receberia valor algum se não houvesse pirataria.

@KermitWog11757 @tak05555 Pelamordeus, a maioria das pessoas não quer saber de jogo velho. Eu pessoalmente sou fã de todo tipo de jogo, mas a maioria esmagadora quer jogos novos. Estúdio não perde dinheiro de quem nunca pagaria por seus produtos caros. Isso é falácia da indústria.

@tak05555 @KermitWog11757 A estratégia é ser inteligente e oferecer serviço descomplicado e preço localizado. Em quase todos os cenários essa prática derruba a pirataria enormemente, especialmente entre as classes médias.

@tak05555 @KermitWog11757 No caso de jogos, várias empresas tem entendido que DRM prejudica aqueles que compram original, pois afetam a performance e a compatibilidade. Piratas removem as proteções e quem se prejudica são as pessoas que compraram original. Pirataria sempre vence.

@AionMukade @a_bodlerfree The catch is that they end up not very cheap, so collector's editions find more audience than regular issues. I think there's room for digital media to grow, but as I stated before they need to tweak pricing to find a sweet spot.

@AionMukade @a_bodlerfree Lately we've got access to apps such as Jump and Squareenix's, but even them are not exactly super cheap, due to convertion rates. There's a balance that companies need to find about pricing to make piracy unattractive. But my educated guess is that people love physical goods.

На счет Пиратства Японского контента, являюсь ли я пиратом манги, если я прочитала мангу на русском языке в России, на пиратском сайте, а потом приехала в Японию и купила ее в Bookoff? Ведь ее до меня кто то читал…

@tak05555 @KermitWog11757 Mas não se engane, nós temos uma indústria de importação de mangá e distribuição de jogos que permite que as pessoas da classe média comprem. Mas não dá pra esperar que a maioria pobre consiga fazer também. Infelizmente eles vão recorrer à pirataria.

@tak05555 @KermitWog11757 O grande ponto da questão é quão acessível o produto consegue ser. A gente vê quanto custa um mangá no Japão, quanto custa um jogo. É uma pequena fração do salário de vocês. Pra gente não é assim, tudo custa muito caro e isso obviamente empurra o consumidor pra pirataria.

@tak05555 @KermitWog11757 E assim, sendo sincero, nós brasileiros gostamos da obra japonesa porque ela é feita para o público japonês. Não temos interesse necessariamente em obras feitas para nosso país. Preferimos ler e compartilhar das mesmas aventuras e personagens que vocês. Queremos essa conexão.

@tak05555 @KermitWog11757 Não adianta conseguir disponibilizar o produto e ele não ter preços populares. Simplesmente mata o propósito e não tem como as pessoas comprarem em peso. É sempre o mesmo problema: o preço precisa ser localizado e mtas vezes o lucro é mto pouco pras empresas.

@AionMukade @a_bodlerfree There are many people in my country who support mangaka by purchasing their books when they're available here. But the vast majority is not even available in japanese or english, so there's no legal way to buy them. That's the harsh reality.

I doubt whether Japanese publishers, or copyright holders, even intended to establish overseas subsidiaries to sell their works abroad in the first place. Aside from a few major hits, it's only been in the last 15 years or so that they've started to distribute their products overseas. In particular, the fact that people in language regions other than English and French are still reading these books suggests that they are already recognized in an untapped market.
