PRESS RELEASE NEUTRALIZATION OF THREE SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS AND RESCUE OF ABDUCTED VICTIM IN OTU As part of its ongoing operations to rid Oyo State of violent crimes and other criminal elements threatening public safety, the Oyo State Police Command has recorded another major operational success with the neutralization of three suspected kidnappers and the successful rescue of an abducted victim during a coordinated security operation carried out at Otu in the Oke-Ogun axis in collaboration with local hunters and other security agencies. The operation was initiated following a distress call received on 25th May 2026 from local hunters who had gone on a hunting expedition in Otu and came under gunfire attack by suspected kidnappers. Fortunately, no casualty was recorded among the hunters. Acting swiftly on the intelligence received, a response team comprising police operatives, local hunters, and other security agencies was immediately mobilized to the scene at Otu. Upon arrival, the hoodlums opened fire and engaged the security team in a gun duel. However, through superior tactical response and coordinated effort, the criminals were successfully overpowered, leading to the neutralization of three suspected kidnappers. Consequently, the operation also resulted in the successful rescue of an abducted victim, identified as Mr. Mosudi Gbolagade, male, aged about 50 years, who had earlier been kidnapped at Okaka and held captive within the Otu area. Although the victim sustained gunshot injuries during the incident, he has been evacuated for urgent medical attention and is currently receiving treatment. In the course of the operation, security operatives recovered one AK-47 rifle without ammunition, one single-barrel gun, and one machete from the scene, further underscoring the violent intent of the criminal elements. Regrettably, one of the local hunters sustained gunshot injuries during the exchange and was promptly rushed to the hospital, where he is currently receiving medical care. Commending the bravery and synergy displayed during the operation, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, lauded the gallantry of the local hunters and other security stakeholders whose timely intervention significantly contributed to the success recorded. The Command therefore reiterates its unwavering commitment to sustaining aggressive operations against criminal elements across the state and urges residents to remain vigilant by providing credible and timely information to security agencies. The man was our direct neighbour in Guzape. He was hardly around because he spent most of his time out of the country. In fact, he had just returned from Turkey barely two days before his son killed him. His children lived in the house and lacked nothing. They even had an inverter, and my sister would often joke about their electricity bill because their ACs were almost always on, especially in this Adelabu Band A era. Only for the shocking truth to emerge that his own son killed him. At first, the boy tried to make it look like armed robbers had attacked the house. But thankfully, a neighbour’s CCTV camera was reviewed, and it showed that he was the last person to enter the compound with his girlfriend around 2am. Honestly, this world is becoming frightening. It is heartbreaking that a son could do something like this to his own father! 😪

After almost seven years at this club, it’s hard to put into words what this moment means to me. I arrived at this club when I was 18 years old. Far from home, barely speaking the language, trying to adapt to a completely new culture, new life and chasing a dream that felt so big at the time. We didn’t just build a team, we built a family, an identity, and something the fans could believe in again. To see this club back where it belongs is one of the proudest moments of my career.
