Economic Development | In October we received $51,025 in funding from the Province of Ontario for Rural Economic Development (RED) to be used for a Business Retention and Expansion Program (BR+E). Since then we have launched Prosper Belleville, a BR+E program guided by a volunteer task force and economic development staff that aims to gain a better understanding of the City's manufacturing sector. The program includes in-person interviews with local manufacturers to understand the challenges and benefits of doing business in Belleville. Once completed a report and action plan will be presented at a public event in the spring. For more information on the project, visit: Belleville.ca/BRE.

Community | Our Economic Development division is still seeking donations of new and/or very gently used workwear in support of the Meta Employment Services Career Closet program. Our daughter chose highland cattle, a heritage breed that are very self sufficient and well adapted. Her herd grazes 80 acres through several orchards and landscapes. They give birth independently and often hide their calves, as the mom did. These instincts serve them well.

It was a terrific weekend at the Quebec Alpaca Show. We're grateful to all the volunteers and organizers and volunteers for giving us the opportunity. Terrific to see our fellow alpaca farmers once again!

Happy birthday to 10 beautiful puppies who arrived a year ago today. These gorgeous pups are now working dogs and loved family members. A year ago the true star of the show was Pandi. After giving us 10 gorgeous pups she continues to guard the herd and rule the pasture.
