I mean, I think it's pointless, because I don't buy my pans to look fancy, use them to cook my food. And frankly, my house has too many mirrors already.
But I do plenty of other pointless stuff that doesn't hurt anything, so who am I to toss eggs? Just don't forget to season it.

My culinary teachers & grandparents would have considered this heresy.
But this is how pre-1950s cast iron pans were sold. It does not affect heat distribution and it can still be seasoned. This pan works just fine.
I personally wouldn't do it, but hey, some folks need a project.

There's an Icelandic tradition called Jólabókaflóð, where books are exchanged as Christmas Eve presents, and the rest of the night is spent reading them and drinking hot chocolate.
