I remember looking at the tattoos and thinking that I had to keep going. like something had already been written into me, even before I understood why. I like to think it was faith that drew them onto my skin in that moment, holding me steady before everything changed. this year, I went back with the intention of adding two more, continuing a quiet tradition: leaving pieces of my story on my skin every time I return to seoul. two days before my appointment, I messaged my artist and asked to add into the sun. “nobody knows me, honey no one like you. if you wanna go there, I'm ready to be with you” lately, into the sun is the song that holds me together. it’s the heartbeat of arirang for me. it’s where hope lives. and hope is everything taehyung and bts have given me, the kind that doesn’t disappear when things get hard, the kind that stays, even in the darkest days. hearing it live during the concert felt like something inside me broke open; not in pain, but in release. like a door bursting wide, leading straight into my heart. and through that door came comfort, healing, and a promise that, in some kind of way, I am not alone in this world. there’s still the sun, right? “you call, I run dark days and find the sun I don't care how far, just wait, dawn” bangtan music doesn’t just exist to be heard. it reaches, it holds, it stays. it has carried me through moments I didn’t think I’d survive, and it continues to meet me where I am, every single day. 👤 In a group of seven members, there’s only so much sonic real estate. Does ego ever get involved — "I would like to be more on this song," or "This song where I’m featured more didn’t make it"? 🧸Well, I think I was more worried about being able to do a good job. Because no matter how much I listen to what I like, it's a totally different game to perform it myself. So even if I love something, I have to try very, very hard to interpret and reimagine it in a way that makes sense for me to do. But if I ever have fewer parts or I’m taking a less central part in a song, I don’t feel bad about that. Because another member will take that place. I just feel…relieved, in a way. The only thing is, if the seven of us don’t mesh, we just pass on that song.
