Had a wealthy friend tell me that the ability to decrease time to any outcome is the one skill behind every successful person he knows.
A few I apply constantly:
- Decreasing the time it takes you to get out of a bad state will make you emotionally resilient
- Decreasing the time it takes you to go from idea to executive will make you wealthy
- Decreasing the time it takes you to turn a failure into a lesson will thicken your skin faster than anything else

Every time I want to humble myself, I read entrance exam questions from formerly prestigious universities that were written over a century ago.

I borrowed an umbrella from my Airbnb host in Kyoto. I forgot to return it when I checked out, and realized when I was already on the train to Osaka.
I felt terrible. It was a nice umbrella, not a cheap one. I messaged the host apologizing.
She responded: "No problem! Enjoy the umbrella. It's yours now."
I said I'd mail it back. She said "please don't. Postage costs more than an umbrella. Just use it and think of Kyoto when it rains."
I insisted I wanted to return it. She said "okay, but I have a different idea. Next time you see someone who needs an umbrella and doesn't have one, give them this umbrella. Tell them to do the same when they are finished with it. Maybe an umbrella travels all around Japan helping people."
That idea was so beautiful I agreed.
Two weeks later I was in Hiroshima and it started pouring. A woman with a baby was standing under an awning looking stressed. No umbrella, the baby was crying.
I walked over and gave her the umbrella. Told her the story in broken Japanese. She understood enough.
She tried to refuse but I insisted. Told her "when you're done with it, give it to someone else who needs it."
She nodded, said thank you about ten times, and hurried off with her baby.
I got soaked walking back to my hotel but felt good about it.
Sometimes I wonder where that umbrella is now. Hope it's still traveling, still helping people.

@Charles_SEO Ranking on Google for these keywords used to be what showed you owned an SEO agency.
English

I ranked #1 in the UK for this keyword, and many others, for several years across a number of sites.
100% black hat spam on new domains...
I even put my authorship on it at the time 😅

To find the best SEO agency, you should simply search "best SEO agency"

@wrdjsn The best way to solve this is to use Igbo text books. I know of a good one by F. C. Ogbalu. You can get a copy from All Hallows Onitsha. Also, if you supply a lot of type written text (outsourced to Igbo teachers and students or by yourself) with diacritics, it will help a lot.
English

i have reached a standstill
my diacritic restoration model works but restoring diacritics and using a sentiment analysis model on the properly toned Igbo sentences makes things worse

My dad is a lecturer in a Nigerian polytechnic.
He will be retiring in four years time, this is what I suggested and he bought the idea.
I have gotten him a tripod stand.
He will mount his tripod to cover all his classes, connect a mic to his phone to pick his voice clearly.
Post them on YouTube.
Share the link with his students to watch the replay of the class. No notes.
He has over 200 students in his class and has courses from year 1 to year 4.
So he is sure of getting over 1k views on his 1-2hrs lecture videos.
In a month, he should have a Minimum of 4k views.
Give or take 3 - 6 months, the channel gets monetised.
In 2-3 years as a lecturer, he should start earning up to $1k on YouTube.
I already have a YouTube channel, setting him up wouldn't be hard.
It's 2026, we can't keep thinking like in the 90s about generating income.
He doesnt need a laptop, just a smart phone, tripod stand and his good to go.
Or what do you guys think?
