In a darkly ironic way, the fall of Syria ended up improving Russian-Iranian relations because the biggest source of conflict was gone.
The Iranians screwed everything up and lost their proxy network in Syria and their logistics pipelines to Hezbollah and I suppose looking at the results of their actions was... sobering.
The Iranians ruined a thing both Iran and Russia needed and it ended up bringing both countries closer because Russia is guided by actual long-term strategic thinking instead of resentment, and the Iranians were humbled enough to go for the Strategic Cooperation treaty (though still unwilling to commit to a real alliance)

And yes, it is true Russian AD did not actively engage Israeli jets bombing Syrian territory because the Russian-Israeli deal was that Russian forces don't down Israeli jets in exchange for Israel *not* attacking Syrian government forces and limiting their strikes to Iranian targets, which makes perfect sense since Russia and Iran were in a sort of Cold War over Syria and mainly allies of convenience. I don't think the Russian government minded Israelis bombing the Iranian forces that were quite literally stealing Russian weapons from SAA warehouses in favor of proxy forces that were loyal to Tehran, not to Assad and even outright stealing military bases for the IRGC and banning(!) Russia and Syria from these bases. Was that an ideal situation? It was not, but such was the reality on the ground in Syria where the Iranian and Russian strategic interests were fundamentally opposed to each other, and Iranian meddling was a *significant* factor in hollowing out the Assad regime to the point where it was incapable of surviving

When this is over, the western part of NATO will never be the same. Spain, England, France and Italy have sold us out, as they too often have a history of doing. Eastern European nations are the heart of NATO. They spend money on defense, know how to fight and love the US.
France particularly deserves fault and blame. From supporting China and Russia at the UN to denying Americans overflight rights, they’re doing what they’ve always done - showing weakness, while cutting deals with terrorists. (The reason the US has a Marine Corps and Navy is unlike France, we refused to pay a ransom to the Barbary Pirates. France is always happy to cut a deal.)

Ukrainian forces are attacking Russian vessels in the Mediterranean Sea out of new bases they’ve established in Libya.
200+ Ukrainian soldiers have arrived in Libya according to Radio France Internationale (RFI).
The French public broadcaster's article reveals details of a covert Ukrainian military presence in Libya as part of a broader "shadow war" between Ukraine and Russia on the African continent.
More than 200 Ukrainian officers and technical experts have deployed in western Libya with the explicit approval of the Tripoli-based Government of National Unity (GNU) led by Prime Minister Abdelhamid Dbeibah.
They operate from three main sites:
- The Air Force Academy in Misrata
- A drone launch facility in Zaouia
- A coordination center near Tripoli International Airport
In exchange for their being allowed to hit Russian ships, Ukraine provides drone training to Libyan forces, with potential longer-term deals on arms supplies and investment in Libyan oil.
The presence is linked to Ukrainian operations targeting Russia’s shadow fleet.
RFI sources claim Ukrainian forces launched attacks from Libyan territory on March 3rd, striking the Russian LNG tanker
