Yesterday, Ministers @onduhungirehe and @JoNsengimana held a bilateral meeting with Hon. Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, Tanzania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation (@mfa_tanzania). Their discussions focused on further strengthening cooperation between Rwanda 🇷🇼 and the United Republic of Tanzania 🇹🇿. Minister Kombo is in Kigali for the ongoing 4th EAC Regional Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Conference.

At today’s @UN Security Council meeting presided over by @US_SrAdvisorAF Mr. Massad Boulos, Amb. @martin_ngoga delivered #Rwanda’s statement on the situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Ambassador’s intervention highlighted; 
🔹 A sharp escalation in drone strikes and aerial attacks targeting populated areas in #Goma and #Minembwe, resulting in civilian casualties, including the death of a humanitarian worker. 
🔹 Addressing the persistent #FDLR threat, and its growing genocide ideology in public discourse, as indispensable to any lasting solution. 
🔹 The Washington Agreement and Doha Framework as peace efforts that must be enforced in an even-handed manner, ensuring all parties are equally bound by their commitments.

Today, PS @FidelisMironko, alongside other government officials, received a delegation from Austria, led by Ambassador Andreas Liebmann-Holzmann, Deputy Director General for International Partnerships and Humanitarian Aid @MFA_Austria. Their discussions focused on strengthening cooperation and advancing shared priorities between Rwanda 🇷🇼 and Austria 🇦🇹.

Yesterday in Vienna, Minister @onduhungirehe met with Ms. Beate Meinl-Reisinger, Federal Minister for European and International Affairs of Austria. They discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on shared priorities, including the situation in the region.

CLARIFICATION OF INCIDENT AT WASHINGTON DC HOTEL An unarmed member of the security detail of a Rwandan VIP staying in a Washington DC hotel inadvertently encountered security agents of a DRC delegation in a hotel hallway accessible to all guests. Both delegations were staying at the same hotel. The Rwandan detail member was briefly restrained from accessing the elevator by the DRC security agents, which was inappropriate and wrong behavior in a common area, but the matter was eventually resolved without further escalation. Following this incident, the Rwandan party made a decision to change hotels, but were harassed and filmed by unknown persons as they checked out and departed. Despite this provocation, the Rwandan team was restrained and professional at all times, and carefully avoided any confrontation. There has been gross misrepresentation of what transpired, including blatant dishonesty by the DRC Minister of Information in a press conference last night. These contemptible lies should be disregarded and condemned. END

Today at IPRC Kicukiro, President Kagame and First Lady Jeannette Kagame attended the men’s singles final of the ATP Rwanda 100 Challenger, which saw Argentina’s Marco Trungelliti defeat Italy’s Marco Cecchinato, during the third edition of the tournament to take place in Rwanda. The week-long ATP Challenger 100 follows the just concluded ATP Challenger 75, which ran from 2-8 March, with both tournaments featuring 66 players from 20 different countries. #RwandaChallenger

Minister @onduhungirehe received H.E. Theresa Zitting, Ambassador of the Republic of Finland to Rwanda, with residence in Dar Es Salaam, for a courtesy call. They discussed further deepening strategic partnerships between the two countries.

On the sidelines of #CSW70, @RwandaGender Minister @U_Consolee also met with H.E @UlrikeLunacek, Special Envoy of the Republic of #Austria and former Vice-President of the European Parliament. The delegations shared perspectives on advancing #GenderEquality, and reaffirmed continued cooperation between 🇷🇼 and 🇦🇹 within the multilateral system.

This evening in Paris, President Kagame attended the UEFA Champions League match at Parc des Princes, where Visit Rwanda partner Paris Saint-Germain secured a 5–2 victory over Chelsea FC.

This afternoon, Minister of State @UstaNcusta congratulated and awarded Atete Kagorora Arianah, a Rwandan secondary school student who emerged as the winner of the 2024 EAC Essay Writing Competition. Organized annually by the @jumuiya Secretariat, the competition engages O-Level students across the region to promote awareness of EAC activities and the benefits of regional integration among young people.

#CSW70 | This morning in New York, the 70th session of the Commission on the Status of Women officially opened with a session marking #IWD2026. Throughout this week’s proceedings, 🇷🇼 Rwanda’s delegation will be led by @RwandaGender Minister, Hon. @U_Consolee, alongside representatives from @Imbuto Foundation, @GenderMonitorRW, and civil society organizations @rwamrec, @Haguruka, @HDIRwanda, and @DuterimbereO.

This afternoon in Paris, President Kagame met with President Emmanuel Macron of France on the sidelines of the Nuclear Energy Summit. They discussed the strong and productive bilateral relations between Rwanda and France, and exchanged on the security situation in the region, including the need for ongoing efforts to address its root causes.
